LOL. I wanted Caines at the deadline for the playoff run, but he wanted $14m then, and I wasn't willing to cut deep enough to free up the cap space.

He's the Deuce's Terr. I needed to shore up the worst defense I've ever sent onto ice. LOT of potential, but pretty terrible right now.

He'll re-sign for about a $2.5m pay cut after the rollover, freeing up cap to fill out the press box.

I'm gonna sit with 18+2+1 'til then.

Cuts:

Fetner - 36 yrs old. 66 overall. no potential left. No top tier attributes.
Sperow - 40 yrs old. 78 overall. needed to upgrade the top line.
Bede - 38 yrs old. 65 overall. no potential left. No top tier attributes.
Brand - 34 yrs old. 66 overall. no potential left. Decent offense attribute (95), but poor production. Missed 14 days to injury.
Salls - 32 yrs old. 69 overall. decent d-man. 2 injuries cost 16 days.
Bergsjo - 35 yrs old. 69 overall. good production on offense. no potential left...would have liked to have kept him another season or two.

Drafted:

Sebers - great offense and defense. Good potential. Easily the best left in the draft. Had him at #2 in my pre-draft rankings.

Signed:

Crotzer - depth signing. 63 overall. 100 potential. Brings some size and stamina.
Coroniti - 83 overall. 100 potential. power shot attribute. Good offense/stamina/attitude. New team leader.
Pavlov - 83 overall. 100 potential. power shot attribute. Excellent passer. Great stamina. Nice D rating for a forward.

Too bad we can't get another player or two. The fa pool is fairly deep for a startup team.

Just took me to OT WITH Money Muhlstein in goal and despite getting outshot 2:1 in regulation.

If he had those 1st 4 yrs to lay the foundation... more like Sony with the rest of us Epic Records than Nagasaki.
