Not to mention that even if all the current players didn't come back, the guys currently playing college football will eventually replace them and we'll be right back where we were before with players again wanting and making a ton of money.

And they should make thatmoney, a reasonable portion of what the league makes. Lets not forget, that the average career is 3 years, and these guys need to cover most of their expenses for the rest of their lives on that salary. Not to mention the health effects, and that ANY injury could end their careers. Not to mention, their employers can fine them, don't have to live up to their end of the contacts.

Anyone siding with the owners is an idiot. The nfls product is on the field. Ive personally stopped watching basketball because of league management, you think id have a hard time giving up the nfl?

The NBA has some serious issues and with their pending labor issues I do hope they blow the whole thing up and start over.

A new commish is a MUST there.

Stern has been in power for a long time. Even before he was commish he held a higer up job. It is time for a change. (Not that he didnt do some good things for the league, but now it has passed him by)

I totally agree. The players do deserve all that money. It's a violent game, careers are short and due to the violent nature, they're also entitled to post-career medical care. Also, under NO circumstances should the season ever be increased to 18 games. 16 is plenty. If anything, I wouldn't object if they went back to 14. Of course, the owners would never agree to that, in fact the likelyhood of the owners agreeing to go back to 14 games is probably the same as that of the players agreeing to an 18 game season.

He probably should've left after the lockout they had in 1998-99. He's been bungling the league since (especially since it seems more rigged since that point than it did before), especially with the way he treated Seattle in regards to the Sonics and he's doing the same to Sacramento.

1 This is tough? Football is tough?? How many Auto workers have fingers cut off each year? How many other people with non millionaire jobs are more dangerous? If you dont want to play football get a job somewhere else.

2 Cant play 18 weeks? Who else gets this? America wants football.

3 Players deserve the money? The Owners paid for the teams and take all the risks. Players either make money or dont, and they usually got a free college education from football. If you can only play 3 years get another job!

No one who owns an NFL franchise is ever going to go broke! How is this a risk? Income from TV, sponsorships and season tickets are guaranteed for crying out loud!

Anybody with the ability to play in the NFL has almost always received a free education that would have cost several hundred thousand dollars.  With that free education, I would hope that they might be able to scrounge-up a job good enough to support a family after they've made their millions playing a game.

Depend on the size of the family, Cromartie has nine kids.

Owners take all the risks, do they? Because it's not at all dangerous or risky to play football is it?

Nice to know you are consistently clueless regardless of the subject.

Oh, I forgot, it's very easy to sell cars or work as an accountant and maintain any semblance of the same life style.

But, forget it, all nfl payers should make 50k a year regardless of how much is made off of them during their careers.

Not to mention that most fans don't even want an 18 game season.

Bigger rosters would be required, and im hoping it would lead to a dleague. Two good things. Expand playoffs to 7 per conf. all good things.

So,im not against it.
