Manage players, there's a link between your players and the free agent list that says "VIEW PROSPECT LIST"

you rank who you want 1-5. Since there's only nine teams, the draft will be two rounds. Teams 9-6 will pick after the semi-finals, and teams 5-1 will pick after the finals. AI teams don't draft. As your training/scouting improves, you'll see more info about the players on the prospect list.

you can sort the free agent list by age, spd, str, etc. to help you look for specific things.

I just sorted it by age and was ****** at myself for missing a couple of those bargains

So am I correct in these guys on the free agents list dont have positions and that its up to me to analyze their stats and plug them at positions accordingly or am I just missing their positions?
7/13/2011 12:57 PM
yeah, exactly. You decide where they're best suited to play.

brain does it different than me but my rule of thumb is if they have high OFF they are a forward they have high DEF they are defensemen

Is this strictly skill driven or is it beneficial to mingle in some veterans?  I mean if im not gonna be good for up to 4 years, it would seem just signing a bunch of high potentialed 18 and 19 year olds would be the best route or do I want a few pricey vets?
7/13/2011 1:03 PM
another thing brain and i do differently.  i like the vets.  once they plateau brain throws them in the garbage.  and if a guy is 35 he still has about 5 years left before he starts declining quickly which is a long time in GHL.  yes i may have the oldest team in the league but i have won multiple cups and been in the finals many times without winning

also very important to build your arena up first and foremost.  you will need the cashflow.  and don't take out a huge loan until you have some cash coming in.  i have bankrupted two teams doing this.

high potential, and at least decent attitude and stamina. Two of the hidden stats (why I cut Whitsell immediately after drafting him BTW).

If you think the higher priced guys are still going to be around to contribute when you'll be good (say, no older than about 32)...

It's up to you.

I like using the younger guys, becuase they can play for you forever. I just rebuilt my Superleague team, but that's really only the 2nd busy offseason I've had. Probie will use the older guys, and wins with them, but every offseason, he's getting new old guys to replace the ones that are now on oxygen.

yeah, the quicker you have a Level 9 building, marketing and staff, the quicker everything else falls into place.

Until you're over the cap and have all your upgrades done (Level 9 everything) money is ammunition.

That's one of my favorite things about my experience in the superleague is seeing brian and probie both dominate with different approaches.

I think it's now safe to say speedy is in the mix there as well.  Curious to see if he can repeat and be a fulltime member of the big dog clan.

Meanwhile, I wait.  And wait.  And wait.  Hoping I've got the right mix, anxious for them to mature into a force to be reckoned with, eager for a breakthrough season that may never come considering the big brains on my counterparts.

If I could design my dream newbie player, about 70 overall:

Scoring Forwards (10-12) OFF-90+, SPD-70+, Shot-70+ (80 preferable, and being really picky, SA>SP)
Checking Forwards (2-3) DEF-80+ (90 preferable), SPD-70+, OFF- 60-70, Faceoff-70+ (80 is preferable) Being really picky, high SA and/or passing is nice.
Defensemen (6-8) DEF-90+, STR-80, SPD-70 (and being really picky, SP>SA)

Everybody: Attitude >=64 or so, Stamina >=70, and the potential to get >100 in all the key attributes.

ptt you need to sign some big names to get back in the mix.  if i were you i would sign every one of those guys that are 80 overall and better and 34 or younger.  this will improve your team immediately allowing you to compete this season and still allow you to develop all your youngsters.   also i think the auto-set lines is a mistake.  put your best guys on the top lines.  i like your goalies but your coach has a VERY low INT rating which I believe is the stat that wins close games
