Re Akin, his comment about "legitimate" rape was a comment regarding a woman lying about rape.  As such the comment was beyond idiotic, because that is a completely and utterly different subject.  Re a woman somehow getting raped and causing herself to abort somehow, well, that was idiotic to bring up as well.  There are of course many, many different examples of traumatic events, mental and physical, causing issues with pregancies.  But to try to connect that to rape in the abortion discussion is simply idiotic.

However, I would like to go on record and say this is a perfect example of the difference between the parties.  A Repub pol makes a statement like that, and the Repubs want him gone, admitting his position is idiotic.  While at the same time the Dems and the MSM pile on and try to portray the entire Repub party holds the same beliefs.

When Dems pols say stupid **** like this, the party rallies around them and the MSM protects them.
I gotta call BS on the difference between the parties.  Republicans responded correctly with Akin by disavowing him  (just like the Democrats would have) and the Dems pounced on the opportunity (just as the Repubs would have).
Dems defend theirs up until they can't anymore.  See Weiner.  See Rangel.  Hell, see good old Bill Clinton.  And the MSM defends.

Pouncing on Akin is fine.  Pouncing on the whole party using guilt by association is BS.
Dems defend theirs as long as they're defendable and it doesn't hurt the party....same as the republicans.

Or are you just trying to say that Republicans are better and fairer people than Democrats?

Because I would argue that both parties operate solely for self preservation and do whatever is necessary to maintain as much control as possible.
I see Repubs jettison their own far more than Dems do.  I don't see the crazies get shown the door by Dems.  Now that does not mean I think Repubs are better and fairer than Dems.  It may just mean the Repubs know the press will kill them on such an issue and the Dems know they won't get killed.

Just like Dems, the Republicans only jettison the expendable. Akin is no longer electable and brings unwanted attention to an unnecessary issue. When they have value, the republicans stand behind their man. See Gingrch, Newt.

http://www.ehow.com/how_2045114_increase-chances-conception.html
http://www.babymed.com/getting-pregnant/top-12-tips-how-get-pregnant-faster-and-healthier

None of these are medical sites, but they all say the same thing, orgasm increases the chance of pregnancy,

This doesnt mean that he was right to say it the way he did. He screwed up.

It isnt odd that no one brought this up? Anywhere?

No one brought it up because you're the only one who believes Akin was reading "tips and tricks for becoming a mommy faster" websites.

It's crazy how detached you are from reality.
So are you willing to stand up and say that this is false?

That having an orgasm does not increase conceptions chances?

Tell me what you believe about this.
1) I believe that there are no scientific studies that prove anything about this.

2) I believe that Akin's remark was based off anti-abortion propaganda.

3) I believe that everybody except you and the hard-core anti-abortionist realize what you're saying is crap.

4) I believe that you are unable to cite real, independent sources for anything you believe in.
There are theories that the female orgasm might increase fertility. For example, the 30% reduction in size of the vagina could help clench onto the ***** (much like, or perhaps caused by, the pubococcygeus muscles), which would make it more stimulating for the male (thus ensuring faster or more voluminous ejaculation). The British biologists Baker and Bellis have suggested that the female orgasm may have an "upsuck" action (similar to the esophagus' ability to swallow when upside down), resulting in the retaining of favorable sperm and making conception more likely.[106] They posited a role of female orgasm in sperm competition. The observation that women tend to reach orgasm more easily when they are ovulating also suggests that it is tied to increasing fertility.[107] Evolutionary biologist Robin Baker argues in Sperm Wars that occurrence and timing of orgasms are all a part of the female body's unconscious strategy to collect and retain sperm from more evolutionarily fit men[citation needed]. An orgasm during intercourse functions as a bypass button to a woman's natural cervical filter against sperm and pathogens. An orgasm before functions to strengthen the filter.

I realize that you are going to find some way to dismiss this. You will be outraged again and call me stupid.

Ok, that's a wikipedia article and neither of the sources is a scientific study.

I'm outraged.

You're stupid.

Feel better?

And you are missing the whole point.

I was not arguing that it was carved in stone verified fact. It is a theory among scientists and scholars that is out in the mainstream. And he was clearly referencing this.

Why is it so hard for you to accept that he didnt make this up out of the blue, that there is some basis for his comments?

Uh, scientific study doesn't mean "carved in stone scientific fact".  You want to stretch speculation into a viable scientific theory.  Not surprising based on your posts.

This is still how you need to distort this.

People in the Medical and Scientific community have developed a theory that orgasms increase the rate of conception. This is a fairly common belief in OB/Gyn circles.

Studies have been done. Nothing absolute was determined but there is clearly a trend.

It doesnt mean that you cannot get pregnant without an orgasm, so his comments were invalid. '

The fact that NO ONE ANYWHERE in the mainstream media is even hinting at this is the problem.

Now go ahead and go back to the "Swamp is stupid, his supporting eveidence isnt strong enough".
8/27/2012 11:41 PM
Swamp is stupid and he doesn't have any supporting evidence.
8/28/2012 12:07 AM
Why would expect swamp to understand science?
8/28/2012 12:10 AM
And as usual, swamp is completely distorting the matter. Akin didn't say orgasm slightly increases the chances of pregnancy. He said pregnancy from rape is "really rare."

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll

Monday, August 27, 2012

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows President Obama attracting support from 47% of voters nationwide, while Mitt Romney earns 44% of the vote. Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

This is the president’s biggest lead since May. His 47% level of support matches his best since March.

And your man Rasmussen has Obama +3, nationally.

Philly Inquirer sponsored poll   Obama +9

Ten weeks before the election, a voter poll commissioned by The Inquirer finds President Obama leading Republican rival Mitt Romney by a significant margin in Pennsylvania, raising the question of whether the Keystone State is up for grabs on Nov. 6.

The Inquirer Pennsylvania Poll, led by a bipartisan team of top political analysts, concluded that if the election were held now, Obama would win the state by nine percentage points - 51-42 - with 7 percent of voters undecided.

PS-Why would Americans for Prosperity (Koch Bros.) cancel all of their PA TV ad buy? You must believe they think they are so far ahead, really? Or do they realize they are just throwing good money after bad?

Today Rasmussen has it Obama +3.  No link to sample.

And there are no links anywhere to the actual PA poll.

It is all about the sample.  I keep trying to point out this little nugget of information to you guys, but apparently you just don't get it.  If the nation is split evenly, which it is, you can't sample Dems +9 over Repubs, as well as oversampling Inds, and get an accurate poll.

And if you want to know what Obama's internal numbers show, just watch his guys and the MSM media shout "racism".  The louder they shout it, the worse his numbers are.  And they are really shouting it right now.

I am not defending his comment. It was stupid and we all agree.

It just wasnt out of the blue. There was some basis for what he said. He didnt just invent an idea out of the blue.

He was in over his head and screwed up.

Should this be the defining point of who wins an election?
