Now if the perfect game in game 7 of that series had been the one that bounced over the Green Monster, you would have Cookie Lavagetto beat !

I'm playing in a division where 4 teams in the same division (20 team league so divisons of 5) have the highest winning percentage of all teams in the league.

Sorry - no wild card in a 20 team league...believe it or don't.

Fritz Peterson takes a no-hitter into the 9th against my Detroit team, and with two outs a walk-off home run by Carlos May beats him 1-0 !

I currently have a team (123 games in) winning at a .626% (77-46)-  the odd part is I don't have a single hitter with more than 64RBI.  I know that pitching wins - and that we use a lot of deadballers in the league -but with it being a dual season progressive I thought I'd get "a little" more offensive production.

believe it or don't

(possibilities for my success includes the fact that my starting pitchers salaries are 15.88m, 12.25m and 8.91m.  All 3 of my starters have ERA's under 2.60, OAV's under .227, and whip's under 1.18 - there recors are 24-11, 20-10 and 20-15)

Streaks and Slumps Edition!

In an 80M theme that recently kicked off, my 1905 Ed Reulbach threw a shutout in his first start.  He followed that up with a shutout in his next start, and in the one after that, too.  10 games into the season, he's pitched more shutouts than the rest of the league's pitchers combined (3-2).  Big Ed's numbers so far:

27 innings, .063 WHIP, .114 OAV, 0.00 ERA.

Believe It or Don't!

In an OL, a rookie hitter of mine shed 41 points from his batting average in just 15 games.  Slump!  But also streak -- he hit safely in every one of those 15 games, including 4 multi-hit games, one of them a 4-hit effort.  How do you lose 41 points off your average while getting hits in 15 straight games?  Well, his batting average prior to the streak was a very robust .473 (26-for-55).  During the 15-game streak, he hit .393 (22-for-56) -- bringing his average all the way down to .432.

Believe It or Dont'!

In that same OL, I had another rookie hitter get off to a horrible start after acquiring him in a trade: 3-for-32 (.094).  At that point I figured I'd boost the young lad's confidence (or kill him off for good!) by batting him leadoff against the great 1908 Addie Joss.  He went 3-for-4 against Addie, which started a 22-for-65 (.339) spree that raised his season average to a respectable .269.

In $120/m theme league I am in, my 4 lowest paid hitters have much better averages than my top hitters (all over $7/m salary) that include: Gwynn, Lajoie, g. Davis, Mcgee and Raines

20 games left in season

Update from a previous post about 1905 Ed Reulbach in an 80M theme:

I don't think I've ever had a pitcher get off to a start like this before.

through 3 games, 1952 Eddie Joost is 0-8 with an OBP% of .429 (6BB)

small sample size I know - but fun to see things like your leadoff hitter batting .000 but with an OBP over .400!
