Moe Berg - Come on, international spy who moonlights as a journeyman catcher.

Rube Waddell - The guy struck out 300 in a season in the deadball era with seemingly the emotional and intellectual capacity of an eight year old.  Paging Will Ferrell...

Ed Delahanty - As discussed already

Waddell is an excellent choice too. I found an interesting article about how he discovered Addie Joss.

King Kelly - read THIS ARTICLE

Here is an excerpt...
"Another rules change, attributed to Kelly’s actions, occurred in 1891, when Kelly was player-manager for the Boston franchise. During an exhibition game against Philadelphia’s National League franchise, Ed Delahanty, one of the most feared clutch-hitters in baseball (and a future Hall of Famer), came to the plate with 2 outs and the bases loaded. On the first pitch, Delahanty lofted a foul pop to the area in front of the Boston (first base) dugout. Kelly had been sitting on the dugout bench. He suddenly jumped out onto the field and yelled, “Kelly now catching for Boston!”–and promptly caught the ball for the third out.

TED WILLIAMS

HE WAS JOHN WAYNE, BUT WHO DID FIGHT, TWICE. AND HE COULD SURE HIT. BUT HE WAS "DIFFICULT"

TACITURN, LACONIC, COMPLICATED, A TRUE BLUE AMERICAN ANTI-HERO

With Ted Williams, it could be a sci-fi flick...have him cryogenically unfrozen in the year 2035 by the Yankees and have him become the team's DH and carry them to another world series title. :-)

Hope he doesn't go through too many defrost cycles by that time.

Yes, bronx, he was a sort of an American sniper.  If he acted, he could have played Shane, in Shane.

Ty Cobb, a study in psychopathology. With a young Jack Nicholson.

Except that now we know he was neither psycho nor particularly racist -

Kirby Puckett.

The pudgey guy who stormed into the Bigs winning Rookie of the Year, 6 Gold Gloves, 6 Silver Sluggers, 10 consecutive All Star appearences, 2 World Series (including one of the most dramaticseries' ever), 1989 batting title (I could go on).  Then, in 1995, he took a pitch from Denny Martinez off the cheek to prematurely end his season.  In March of 1996, he had developed glaucoma and permanently lost sight in his right eye.  Puckett was made executive VP of the Minnesota Twins and won the Roberto Clemente award.  Things went downhill sometime after that.  in 2002, he was accused of sexual assault, false imprisonment and fifth degree assault.  He was found not guilty on all accounts but resigned as VP.  His marriage ended and he also struggled with weight issues, reportedly reaching over 300 lbs.  On March 5th of 2005, Puckett suffered a massive stroke and passed away on March 6th.

Puck was one of my all time favorites and one of the greatest hitters of his era.

Now that I think about it, Clemente would make a great movie too.

Bob Uecker, played by Bob Uecker and CGI.

A semi-biographical movie could be made about a demon that traveled around in Chicago, and from a Violet Popovich Valli to a Ruth Ann Steinhagen, who just a few years apart used a .25 and a .22 respectively on Billy Jurges and Eddie Waitkus, the young player dubbed "a natural."

(If any writers/producers see this, I'll take just a small share of royalties for the idea. Have your people sitemail my people.)

Absolute genius.

My grandpa was a spitting image for Jimmy Durante (nose and all) and talked like him

And my father could pass for Joe Pesci's twin brother.

Naturally I look like the young Al Pacino.
