New look to the front page/lockerroom. Go Whatif.

*sigh*

Yesterday, the logged out site was changed to the new design. This morning, the locker room. Seems that they are rolling it out incrementally though, from my perspective, that's a weird choice.

Whoohoo!  Fancy graphics!!!

Now if we could align football divisions without having to send in a support ticket, I'd be happy!

I like the succinct top post about it here and the elegently succinct reply by raucous:

I feel like it's actually less convenient to get to things, now...

I don't like it, either.  Was it tested or shown to actual users?

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the My Locker page.  Why would they mess with it?

It looks as though it's intended to be better for a mobile / tablet experience now. We recently did a redesign at my job for that reason. Bigger fonts, more spread out inputs, softer colors, smoother edges. From a design perspective, it's more modern. The problem is that WIS isn't really bringing in enough new users to make it worthwhile. In order to get to a point where a redesign like this would make sense, they should make game updates first. Alas, backwards thinking is all too common and the allure of a flashy design is strong among the misguided project managers of the world.

They went live and nobody noticed there are two listings for SLB in the Recent Champions section and one is blank?

I'm not a computer guy, but if tiny screen users are the reason for this change, how about giving medium and big screen users (which I'd guess is still the majority of us) the option of keeping the old look?

On another note, does Whatif still advertise?

That's the way it began, when it came to adding tiny smart phone screens to the mix. Just give them their own version of the WWW. IMHO, that's the way it should have stayed. We all want bigger and more pixels, not less. Most of us want to have big screens with multiple windows on them, truly like a desktop messy enough to get good work done.

I think in the future (must be said like Dr. Emmett Brown and may the Cubs win the World Series) such division of presentations between hand-held and desktop (and wall hung and floor-standing and ceiling hanging) will once again occur. This period will be seen a hiccup, one of those that causes pain in the trachea.
