WIS owner shawbigred....WIS MIA Topic

I was just reading another progressive league classified ad and read what I thought would be the case....WIS owner shawbigred is MIA in many WIS progressive leagues

in my time of playing WIS, I have never seen an owner with so many active teams (+40) disappear with no word

the last sitemail to shawbigred that I have opened is March 3rd...I wonder if anyone has one more recent than that

does anyone know what the situation may be with shawbigred?

I think Scott has done this before.   If I remember correctly, he got jammed up at work a couple years ago and kinda dropped all his teams at once.  It could be the wrong guy but I think it was him.

I know it's disappointing when someone disappears, but I try to hold off being too hard on someone who suddenly disappears. He might be laying in a hospital bed somewhere...

shawbigred plays in my 3-Era progressive.  His last post was Feb-19.  The league number was provided in late Feb. and he entered his team.  I sent him a site-mail on March 9 (trade offer) and he never opened it.  It appears his team is on auto-pilot.

I guess I am lucky our draft was completed and league started before he went AWOL.

I appreciate that we all have lives, but it is very unlikely that  the number of Progressive and Regressive owners that get overwhelmed and disappear are all "in a hospital bed." This theory is used as a defense alot.  I find that most guys that are in a hospital bed (and bored) post that they are indeed in a hospital bed.  I am frustrated and I know that I am not alone.  My league seems to have been unlucky enough to have two owners find themselves in a hospital bed during the draft.  What are the chances...
Yeah, but there's a difference here... this is an owner who has a history of playing in progressives and being very reliable -- even with 40+ progressive leagues. He's been active in progressives for as long as I can remember. This is highly unusual, almost as unusual as johngpf's disappearance. The other thing to remember is that not all hospitalizations are equal and honestly, for as many users as there are on here, we don't see very many sudden and serious hospitalizations. I hope that's not the case here, and that it is just work & other life related. In which case, I can also understand. I've been there. I had a really crazy schedule about 2-3 years ago and went AWOL myself. I had every intention of posting a quick message or sending a quick sitemail, but the energy it took to even get to my computer was daunting when I just wanted to sleep every moment I wasn't working.

I co-run one of the leagues shawbigred is in heading into our draft and I'm just taking over his team myself in the hopes he is able to reclaim it down the road because the last thing I'd want to do is give up his team to someone else only to have him show back up. He's a good owner, I think he deserves a little more respect here.

And what about this?

Frankly I like the guy and I really hope he is OK. My point was I think more people get overwhelmed than hospitalized around here. Don't always assume the worst.

We're all mostly anonymous here. I hate to think the worst, but it is always possible that the very worst has happened. Hope you're O.K., shawbr. We're all going to disappear someday, and some of us without warning...
