So far, after 21 ABs, Buck is hitting .167 with no HRs. lol
Buck Freeman heating up!

8 hits in 4 games w/2 homers!

Which, ironically, is the same reason it doesn't make sense to so many of us to so heavily utilize the waiver wire in the first place...

Dahsdebater, if you read my previous post as to WHY I picked up Freeman after dumping Kreevich, Freeman will give me a significant increase in offense than Kreevich ever could, even if Kreevich was hitting at his best, which he wasn't at the time I dumped him.  And besides, did you actually think Buck Freeman would continue to hit .167 in Cleveland Stadium in an OL?
10/15/2011 11:12 AM
Mix...every time we field a new line up, try a new strategy or whatever, we risk that it won't work out (like your team, picking only seldom-used players). Using the waiver wire to attempt to fix the team is a perfectly legitimate use of the waiver wire. No offense, but I'm hoping Freeman doesn't lead your team on a long winning streak, given that we're in the same division!

mix - I wasn't saying it was a bad WW move in this case.  I had read your reasoning and it was very sound.  I just thought it was funny.  It was 3 in the morning and I couldn't sleep, read that and laughed a little.

crimson, I've seen others create threads like this before who manage to draw the ire of all the other owners. They never live it down. They become universally disliked and that follows them from thread to thread. I suggest you either never come back to this forum again, or start fresh with a new name and let crimsonblue die.

By your own admission, you've used multiple user names on this site, so you must be running from something,  And with a politically divisive name like Teaparty, you've already "managed to draw the Ire" of about half the people here, so no thank you for the cowardly advice. I've never run from anything in my life. If you read back, each and every person that has  approached this thread in a non-attacking and insulting way has been treated with the utmost respect. To the others like you, who use the childish approach of insults and degradation, I quite frankly don't care how you feel. I stand for the decent people with integrity, not the marginal, and if they are not of that thinking why on earth would I ever wimpishly crave the affinity of those that would act in a way that I feel is inapropriate. You keep directing your post to me so sadly you must be someone of that ilk. If you can dish it out but can't take it,  why don't  you create a thread of your own and go to that one.

Thanks for the bump. This thread was too good to let die.

Rip Van Winkle just woke up and was surprised this thread is still going.

This thread's still going on?  Well, while I'm here, I might as well post another player's 1st half/2nd half stats, to illustrate what you might wind up with if you don't dump "cold" players.

1915 Joe Jackson from a single season prog that just finished its regular season (mlb97076):

1st half: .246/.311/.324
2nd half: .306/.415/.496

Obviously, Crazystengel, progressive players are exempt from teh coldness factor that OLs have, therefore your data is moot.

teaparty wins the coveted "Really Freaking Long Post of the Week Award". Congrats!

Cliff Notes of this tread:

crimsonblue - we all know why you're posting, you want to brag about making and then winning the world series. you want pats of the back and acknowledgment from the best wis owners that you're something special.

the fact is, your team sucked all year and got extremely lucky to even make the playoffs with a mere 76 wins.

crimson, if you believe in finding "the hot players" your understanding of this game is about as deep as the kiddie pool.

Luck... protects fools, small children and teams managed by crimsonblue.

cRIMSONbLUE=TEHgENIUs
Obviously he picks just the right guys off the wire, how else to you explain his ability to win 76 games (sometime more!)?

Golly, thinking about it, I mean how many games could I win if I learned the mystic art of the WW? What was once a 100 win team could turn into a 130 win superjuggernaut without those slumpers dragging me down!!

You're hilarious.  "Most people" think you're adding meaningless, irrelevant and myth-based things to the discussion on WW use.

You, on the other hand, got a little hot and a lot lucky and now think you're hot sh*t.

I can't think of any clever mystifying attacks right now, but please insert one on my behalf!

crimson, you're such an idiot.  babies born in february were created in may.  if that's too cold for you to bang, you've got some serious issues with your sexual abilities.

You think winning a world series with a 76-win team proves that you’re the greatest owner ever, and that you out-managed drocman and ligapelota.  Or, more to the point, it's about your lack of self-esteem which caused you to create this thread so that you could brag and get other owners to take notice of your genius.

lol.  this entire thread is your "a pathetic attention seeking attempt."

crimson is a lucky idiot with self-esteem issues.

unless the admins are a bunch of damn liars, your notion about making a team better through the WW is just wrong.

You're as stupid as the idiot in my last league's forum who threatened to "tell the WIS authorities" that I was intentionally throwing games to keep him from making the wild card because I was resting my pitchers after clinching.

"How dare you, Crazystengel! How dare you!"

"My Vince Coleman isn't doing as well as his baseball card! Waaaaaaaa! I wonder why this happens if there aren't bad versions!" (And on HIS VERY NEXT POST he denied ever saying there aren't "bad versions.")

"HOW DARE YOU, CRAZYSTENGEL!"

Oh, and stop site-mailing me. I won't respond and it's beyond creepy.

And really, you expect anyone to believe you want to keep this thread "topical instead of personal?"  The whole point of the thread, really, was you waiving your hand in the air saying "look at me, look at me!"  And now that everybody's not giving you the respect you think you deserve for your SLB managing your just getting angry and defensive.  Not the reaction you were looking for?  That's a shame.

"Also, I never said I didn't want to make it personal.  You annoy me."
I love that.

on page 7 of this thread Crimson said ...."I'm done...." but alas it continues. Oy

The sore loser has to repeat the whole thread? Odd.   Why didn't you just say "Bootlicker looking for the affinity of others" People would actually read it, and it would take less time. I just can't stop laughing at you.......In a compassionate way of course.

This is why soap operas, even bad ones, stay on the air for 30 years.  Wake me when we get to the Cliff Notes on the Cliff Notes of the Cliff Notes of the thread.  During the course of this thread, nearly the entire 2011 MLB postseason was held, at least one regime changed hands (Libya), at least one satellite fell out of orbit, 20 movies opened and closed nationwide, Netflix stock lost 3 billion dollars of market cap, there was one major earthquake (Turkey), 10 million people were born, 5 million died and there were another 15,000 waivers in the SIM, give or take.

Little known fact: if a thread like this reaches 12 pages, both protagonists' HOFMC's (Hall of Fame Multiplier Codes) go straight to zero because of the EDC (entertainment devaluation clause).
