Is this possible? Topic

I'm wondering if it is possible to NOT set any starting pitchers, but to just set all your pitchers to bullpen roles.  Has anyone ever tried this before?

This not possible. You must designate at least 1sp.

I think it would be possible at the start of the season (or start of the playoffs) when no pitcher is locked in as the next game's starter.

I just tried this and it worked (with a team that hasn't started yet). I wonder what would happen when the season started.

I wonder how that would work, You could draft 10-11 pitchers around 100-150 IP of varying quality and let sparky use them as he wants and have them all at pitch counts under 50 and minimize in game fatigue.

appearance fatigue will be tough though

I stand corrected.  Odd tho as I recall getting an error once that I had to designate at least 1 sp.

I don't see why anyone would want to do this, but just out of curiosity I entered a spring team to see what would happen.  I uploaded the 2011 Red Sox and put every pitcher at Long A with no pitch count, a 3 call bullpen setting, and auto rest of 90%.

My guess is the the pitcher with the most real-life innings on the team (Josh Beckett) will get the first start.  For game 2, I imagine it'll be the pitcher over 90% with the most real-life innings.

Will post 24 hours from now on the results...
I just did the same thing with a Spring Season team.  I quickly put together a 'normal' pitching staff (starters, middle relievers, short relievers) but set everyone to Long A, any inning.  The schedule has generated and that's how they're still set.  Will update.
