How many innings should I draft? Topic

Hi, I am trying to draft sim league them in a standard, non-theme league. I was wondering what the optimal number of innings to draft is based on your guys's experience?

I realize that 162*9=1458 innings plus some extra innings so approx. 1500 would seem normal (that's what the guidelines suggest)

Yet i know from my sim basketball experience that rookies can handle some of this load and sometimes its best to stretch guys out a little bit more than their suggested innings.

I was wondering how many innings you guys think is optimal to draft? I am thinking that I'll have at least one long reliever who can eat up innings in blowout games, but i'm still unsure about how many innings i ultimately want to draft

1500 is WAY too many innings. if you never used your rookies you could get by with a little less than 1400 without suffering fatigue problems. you can get maybe 100-150 innings from rookies, but keep in mind some of them are terrible so you might not want to use that many rookie innings. some of the old pros try to get by with only 1200 innings but this involves the use of fatigued pitchers and various other risky maneuvers. For your first league I'd suggest at least 1300 innings.

What do you think would be a good amount? 5000? 5500?

draft the minimum required 4800 innings and fill in with AAA. without rookies you would need 5400-5500 to keep everybody healthy. numbers vary depending on stadium choice, team compositon, opponents pitching, etc.

With a halfway decent defense and good pitching, 1200-1250 ip is fine except in the most extreme parks even if you never use yor pitchers fatigued.
