Just won my first and second World Series with my fifth and sixth teams. YeeeeeeeeHawwwwwww!!!! :o)  (I know baseball AND busted my tail to learn this OL stuff quickly).  Am I in select company to win a pair of champioships that quickly or is it pretty common?  How long did it take you old pro's to win your first and second open league World Series?  Anyway, winning a few title titles sure feels good!!!!!!!!!!. :o)

I've never played in an OL

I know of a few guys that have won OL titles with each of their first three teams... I know of a couple others that did the same in theme leagues (something I find much more impressive) and one or two that won with their championships in their first 2-3 seasons in progressives... 

And, to the best of my knowledge, I've won just one OL title, but that's a long story (and that was my 6th team trying to test a particular strategy that has made other famous and changed the way the site works)...

I don't usually play OLs to win, but to test various elements of the game, if I win more than I lose, that's a plus, but normally my OL teams lose more than not. They're just a good place to put the sim to the test.

I know my 1st came with my fifth team.  I think my second was my 8th team  I also won my first TOC with my first championship team.  You are in good company, no doubt but don't get too cocky, the post-season and TOC are very much about luck as much as skill. 

I didn't play in an OL for well over 100 teams into my WIS time table.  My 1st OL team won 106 games and finished 3rd in my division.  My first OL championship came with team #3.  I have played in 2 OL in the last several years...

I enjoy certain theme leagues better and progressives MUCH better.  I agree with zubinsum...don't get too cocky with early success. 

I'd say it took me a dozen OLs to win my first, and my second and third came in rapid succession - once you figure out OLs, it's pretty simple (when I cut my teeth - anybody remember 1894 pitching?).  My most satisfying WS win was my first Theme win - not only did it mean I beat more elite competition, but it was also the championship that put me into HOF status - back when I thought that meant something!

I made it to the championship with my 1st team... but lost in the finals. I regularly made the playoffs, but seems to me it took me a few teams before I won a championship. What I found over the years is that this game can humble you real quick!

Thanks for the info guys.  I guess I'm going to jump to progressives or other themed leagues soon, maybe after a few more OL experiments. 

PS I know the post season has a huge amount of luck involved, both WS wins easily could have gone the other way. (and I'm not going to get cocky.  )

If a new player came in and won some OLs quickly without using an assortment of tired old cookies, that would be interesting. 

ok well took me like 5 some thing year lost first 13 World Series then won 3 of the last 4 so i would say me very close to your 5th & 6th he he

What if they picked cookies by accident? I won my first OL by picking just dudes who sounded useful and ended up with 89 'HoJo and some deadballers.

Of course since then I've picked such cookies on purpose...
