As far as I'm aware, an error is an error is an error. "Throwing" vs. "Fielding" errors, etc. are merely cosmetic.

They're tracked separately, so they must be more than cosmetic.

which is why i bring up the question...but it could be like an appendix or range for a catcher...

i found this in one of the updates:

Add logic for 1B in terms of "saving" errors or "causing" throwing errors so out-of-position 1B incur more of a penalty.

so, apparently, 1B fielding or range has something to do with it.
