Had 10 schollies to fill.

I understand how much money I get and all that good stuff.

The question I have is can I only recruit 6 freshmen then I have to get players from other classes to get my 10 or can I still get 10 freshmen but I just have limited money?

you cannot sign more than 6 freshman. i think its 5 if you redshirted a freshman from last year.

my advice would be to take at least 2 walkons, up to 4, so that you can rebalance your classes, and focus on getting more talented players this season (instead of simply working to fill spots)

thanks guys

agree with all that was said.

you may be able to find a cheap juco or two - best would be if they know your defense - okay if the juco has a flaw - like no meaningful offensive game, if he can contribute rebounding, defense, something for a couple of seasons as you work out the roster

Yes, gillespie is right - if there was a redshirt last season he will still be a freshman so you could only sign five freshman then.

I agree you should focus on recruit quality rather than filling spots, too.

Focus on finding four or five solid players with good potential to build around. If you can get some other guys who are solid or fit specific roles, do that too.

If you can get some JUCO guys, not only will they vary your classes, but since they tend to have higher ratings they can help talent wise for the first season or two and make you at least a little better that way.

The important thing is to get players who fit with the team you're trying to create. Don't just grab any player who seems to have talent.

I wouldn't take 2 walk ons, it will hurt your practices and consequently your players' growth

Two walk-ons has a minimal (almost zero) effect on players' growth.

three has what effect?  how does 11 walk ons effect the 12th guy?  I haven't seen anywhere that says the more walk ons you have, the more it hurts the scholarship players

it exists somewhere, or did, but I don't feel like tracking it down. I believe that it is true and most other users do as well. You are welcome to disagree of course...

It basically states that more than one walk on will hurt your improvement, but it is commonly accepted that you can get by with two.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing, just would like to know one way or another.  I have no data to back it up either way
