Changing Defenses Topic

After a rough end to the year with my Rutgers squad, I'm thinking about changing defenses.  I was trying a HCP-Zone hybrid that seemed to fail miserably.  I'm not sure if I should go with straight FCP or try to run zone.  Any thoughts or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Whatever you decide, I wouldn't recommend throwing balls at their heads or using homophobic slurs.

In seriousness, I don't have any D1 teams.  But I recommend looking at the top D1 teams in your world and see what is used most often. That'd be a good starting point

That's really a personal choice type thing, but I think zone is underutilized in D1.  You can play an 8-man rotation in the zone if you have decent - not great, just decent - stamina, so you can afford to take a lot of walk-ons to bring in a few studs and play the heck out of them.  Seems like a decent gameplan to go with as a second-tier major program.

Say you have 2 walk-ons. Will this hurt your growth in practice for the other players? I thought I heard that somewhere but I am not sure if it is true..

It's a very minimal effect, almost non-existent. And chem- I would consider abandoning the HCP, but keeping the zone, and then doing what dahs suggested, I think that could bring you nice success.

How would you do the depth chart? This sounds like a great idea I might try in the future.
