I always found TK to be a bit of a pompous ***, but with that said, I think WIS would be better off in his hands as opposed to FOX's...I think a lot of us lamented the sale to FOX pretty quickly afterwards.
i did too. i dont really hold it against him though, i didnt think he was really a great person to be in customer service, but i dont think that makes his ideas and game design abilities any less impressive.
Tarek is one of my good friends. I got to know him through WiS, talk with him regularly, golf occasionaly and even stay at his house whenever I am in the Cincy area. So I may be a little bias here. He made a **** ton of money off this site and than made a **** ton more when he sold it. He did the right thing for him and his family no question. However since he has been gone the site has become stagnant in my opinion. but still is and always has been the best site of its kind hands down. as for the customer support. do you really think he was handining tickets? maybe the first year or two but after that they paid a guy to sit in his underwear at home spit back canned responses. most of the tickets prob 90% were ridiculous anyway.
Anyway I am back in HD and thanks to a new job that allows me some time....
thats good. thats not what i meant, i dont think he was answering tickets in general (hope not at least). but he did interact with customers from time to me, and just in my opinion, he just seemed to be overly sensitive at times to people not liking certain ideas or implementations he put out. like with the first potential release. just seemed like he made no effort to solicit feedback and had zero interest in hearing it at all, like, it was painful to hear a criticism about his game or something. i dont know what the real story was but it sort of came across that way to me. maybe he was just burnt out, i really dont know, but the lead developer in a game like this, IMO, should be more engaged with the customers and how they feel about the game.
that said, i still think what he did was really impressive and that him selling and later leaving WIS was really unfortunate. well, i mean im glad he did well from it (he should have, for sure). its just a shame something with such potential went from an owner founders hands to the idiots at fox. i dont mean to come across as negative about tarek, like i said, i do think of him as somewhat of a genius for what he did.
