I always found TK to be a bit of a pompous ***, but with that said, I think WIS would be better off in his hands as opposed to FOX's...I think a lot of us lamented the sale to FOX pretty quickly afterwards.
i did too. i dont really hold it against him though, i didnt think he was really a great person to be in customer service, but i dont think that makes his ideas and game design abilities any less impressive.
Tarek is one of my good friends.  I got to know him through WiS, talk with him regularly, golf occasionaly and even stay at his house whenever I am in the Cincy area.  So I may be a little bias here.  He made a **** ton of money off this site and than made a **** ton more when he sold it.  He did the right thing for him and his family no question.  However since he has been gone the site has become stagnant in my opinion.  but still is and always has been the best site of its kind hands down.  as for the customer support.  do you really think he was handining tickets?  maybe the first year or two but after that they paid a guy to sit in his underwear at home spit back canned responses.  most of the tickets prob 90% were ridiculous anyway.

Anyway  I am back in HD and thanks to a new job that allows me some time....

Unreal. I played sportssim for a few months too. Should have taken them to small claims court. Such a rip off. If whatif made a college baseball team I'd lose my job, academic scholarship, girlfriend, and everything else positive in my life. Baseball and recruiting together?? Wet dream.
Do you know what happened to the site?  I played one season when it first started but that was it...I went searching for it earlier this year to happily find *crickets* lol
Nope. All I know is the guy sold it off to someone else because he was "too busy". I used to get emails from them to come back and check things out. The one time I came back the site was dead. It still existed and looked like some work had been done but it was definitely dead. They had just gotten the NBA stuff going to. I think a lot of people dropped some decent money for the draft order. I don't sweat the little things much but I'm sure someone out there had to have been livid.
Ahhh lol...I don't miss it because it wasn't good, and I'm doubly happy it's gone because the guy that ran it was a bit of a dick...he also seemed to have propaganda spewing henchmen on his message boards as well.

cricket, hands down.  Not the 3-day matches, but the Sunday variety, with a limited number of overs.

thats good. thats not what i meant, i dont think he was answering tickets in general (hope not at least). but he did interact with customers from time to me, and just in my opinion, he just seemed to be overly sensitive at times to people not liking certain ideas or implementations he put out. like with the first potential release. just seemed like he made no effort to solicit feedback and had zero interest in hearing it at all, like, it was painful to hear a criticism about his game or something. i dont know what the real story was but it sort of came across that way to me. maybe he was just burnt out, i really dont know, but the lead developer in a game like this, IMO, should be more engaged with the customers and how they feel about the game.

that said, i still think what he did was really impressive and that him selling and later leaving WIS was really unfortunate. well, i mean im glad he did well from it (he should have, for sure). its just a shame something with such potential went from an owner founders hands to the idiots at fox. i dont mean to come across as negative about tarek, like i said, i do think of him as somewhat of a genius for what he did.

I get what your saying and can see how/why you feelthat way.  I also agree it is unfortunate that there isnot someone with as much invested in this anymore.  In my opinion this could be the greates sports webiste out there if handled and promoted correctly.

FC Dynasty!!  I remember that.  Wonder if I'm still active in that game?

Seriously, lets get things fixed in HD before we move on to Basket-weaving Dynasty.
5/28/2013 1:28 PM
I've always considered FC Dynasty the biggest waste of company resources...create a free game, supposedly you have a kushy ad deal for the game (I doubt FC dynasty have generated much money) and commit a developer (norbert) to the game.  I mean honestly, how many people started with FC dynasty and have branched off into other "pay" games on here...less than 1%?

Th best idea on here is the on the philly did not mention and that is HD to pro leagues where users will own the pro team and draft the players from HD etc I had mentioned this a couple nyears back as well as many others have and I think the demand for it is there. Its one of the few additions in the game that would be a major overhaul and actually be worth it. They would have to tweak things a bit, like the length of the NBA/ NFL season to match with HD/GD, but it would great if they did it. The other problem is WIS really needs to up their customer base to make it worth it which brings me to the 2nd issue.

Damnit FOX sports needs to start marketing this game better. There are only a couple things that draw people here, and its not going to be fantasy sports. I think I found the site because I had a discussion with someone over which NCAAF team was better, 01 Miami Hurricanes or 94 Cornhuskers (personally I'm with Miami) and somehow i found the sim matchup thing. Thats when I noticed the dynasty tab and I'm a huge fan of dynasty simulations (Play NCAA  Football every year). I wanted to try GD first, but their were no worlds opening at the time or something and HD had one open. Busted out my FREEHD and never left. This is easily one of the best sports sims out there and FOX is sitting on this site with the potential to make a lot of money, but I just don't know if they know what they have. I will be disappointed if this game ever shuts down.

FC Dynasty could be a money-maker for them if they

1. charged for it.
2. made it worth paying for.

I'm a soccer fan and this game couldn't hold my interest.  With the worldwide following the sport has, it could rake in serious dough.

this is really so hard to do... you have to have an exact correlation between NBA and HD seasons, NBA and HD worlds. ive spent a lot of time planning out a sim, to the point of being able to produce a halfway decent box score with plans for designing a complete game around it, and i always like the idea of an NBA game on top. working through the details, i cant make it work, and i dont think its something i would ever take on. given how easy it is to like something as a theoretical idea, compared to actually doing it, and given my passion for the subject... if i cant make it work even in my head, i think there is zero chance of WIS being able to make it work, even if they wanted to.

I don't think you could tie it in.  It would have to be done like Hard Ball Dynasty, which looks great but I could never get in to.

is there another simulation sports website that could potentially push WIS out of business...or are they just not growing?
As annoying as this site is, it is the best at the moment. The instant something comes along that can challenge the quality of games and the usability of the website, however, WIS will have to step up its game.

They're coasting, it seems. Perhaps not purposely, but Fox has the developers on all sorts of projects.
