What is Wrong with the Forums Topic

"I barely read the forums because so many things are presented as "fact" and now as opposed to a couple of years ago if you have a different view its welcomed by insults rather than an opposing view point." I'm quoting a prominent and very successful coach in my conference. With a all the hating and the name-calling going on on the forums, many great coaches with novel/unique ideas have stopped coming around. This has made the forums significantly worse. So I guess is what I'm saying is "Why can't we all get along?" Think next time before you call colonels a dousche (even if he is being one), or before you call stine an a**hole. Hopefully more new ideas will be presented, and we can all reach a greater understanding of the game.

I was thinking about making a thread like this but decided it wasn't worth it. It used to be that the general consensus was to treat everyone with respect and now thats gone right out the window.

We all don't have to agree but the personal attacks aren't helping anything...

I know that I did call colonels a douche but I mean they came after me. I don't try to start anything but when someone posts on the forums that i am sending messages to much and insult I'm not going to just take it. Also they can kindly sitemail me and tell me to not message them anymore

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like there are more young HD players (at least in the forums) now more than I've ever seen.  And then of course you have the people who never seem to mature .  Not sure if that would explain it.

sorry, i usually try to be a positive influence but have done a terrible job of that with the whole multiple team incident. its been tough for me personally lately to enjoy this game and stay positive, but thats not a good excuse... i just hope most people stopped reading those multiple team threads a month ago :O

I agree with this post and also wanted to post something like this previously. There is a clear lack of respect on the forums the past few months. Questions are being answered with personal attacks, personal attacks are being answered with more personal attacks, and the negativity surrounding this forums has been horrendous. Treat one another with respect, take the high road, and stop with all the sniping and BS comments. These forums used to be worth reading everyday, now they aren't even worth coming onto and it has made the game less enjoyable.

YOU'RE the problem, m.

Kidding.  As usual, you bring some level headedness to the table.

after a two year layoff  things havent changed.  actually they are prob much tamer.  the forums used to be much more active.  while there was more good info there was also way more fighting.  and most of if wasnt taken personal.  i am all for a good discussion.....

spot on

there was MORE debate and disagreement - about how things work, how things should work etc

BUT, there was less of a personal tone to such disagreements

disagreement spurs interest - and often progress.  Personal attacks kill off a forum unless one enjoys trash talk for itself.

I think another small problem is that if you haven't paid for a season in 2 years you can't post on the forums. There are a lot of very successful coaches who earn enough credits that they never have to buy seasons and therefore can't post in the forums. For example on my main ID I can't post in the forums, and I only log into this ID sparingly, and don't always feel like logging out of my other and logging into this one just to make a post.
