Whats the right thing to do? Topic

When you get a sitemail urging cooperation to allocate players, clearly the right thing is to say no, I wont agree to do that.

Is there a duty - as a matter of morality, fair play or otherwise, to report on the proposed collusion?

yes

I probably would.  I don't think you'd get any punishment, probably not even a warning, for not doing so, but you really should for the integrity of the game.  If he sent it to you he's sending it to other people, maybe some of them go along with it.

Public shaming along with reporting the violator. No need to protect the identity of someone who is knowingly trying to break the rules.

Would we be disappointed to learn the identity of this person (i.e. are they a well-regarded, highly successful coach), or are they more like someone who is maybe trying to gain some traction in the game?

In what way is that relevant?

Not relevant at all. Just curious.

Turn them in... Deter this type of practice

Out of curiosity what do you mean by "urging cooperation to allocate players."  Is that like trying to coherse someone into not recruiting a certain player?  Is it sitemailing them trying to encourage them to recruit in a certain way?  Just wondering.  Haven't heard those terms used before.

I mean if someone suggests that two coaches agree in advance who will take which recruit in the area,

I hope this isn't veering too far off the original question - What if someone sitemails you, telling you about a player who's in your backyard who was considering them for no reason and hoping you'd get them to consider you so it doesn't look like they're in any battles?

That doesn't always take you off the considering list.  Especially when it's someone considering you with no effort on the first cycle - those guys can sometimes be a pain to get off of your list.
