with mixed emotions, at long last, ive decided to finally give it up. after playing for 6 years, the game just doesnt appeal to me anymore. actually, after playing for 2-2.5 years, the game just didnt appeal to me anymore - the idea of the game did. this game type has such potential, but its just so mismanaged now, its really a shame. for the last 3+ years, i just stayed because i enjoyed the community, talking strategy, helping coaches with their teams, killing time on the forums ;) but the whole multiple team ordeal has just sapped the last of the energy for HD out of me, and its time to move on.

i want to thank all the great people (not by name, but especially GLV tark coaches) that have made this game so much fun for me over the years. the game itself is a great idea, but the game and the business are run poorly - its not the game, but all the great coaches that have made the experience what it was. so thank you guys. even though ive been frustrated on the forums lately, i think most coaches here are really great guys, even most of the guys arguing against multiple teams are good guys. i hope there are no hard feelings.

id like to apologize for two things before i go. first, over the last month or two, ive gotten too involved in the whole multiple team arguments, to the point i feel ive gone from being a positive influence on the game, to a negative one. im sorry for that, and that is a big thing pushing me to give it up. i feel like there is often a phase before leaving something like this, to have a bitter phase at the end... i really want to try to cut that phase of my HD career short, by stopping now. sorry to have crapped up the forums this past month or two. hopefully all the positive posts over the years buy me a little leniency where that is concerned :( on top of that, we are moving, just had our 2nd child, and so life has been totally busy & stressful lately - so ive not had the right frame of mind for dealing with this issue. not a good excuse, i know, and im not trying to justify anything - just saying. sorry again.

second, i have just been really not that interested for pretty long now. i used to spend 5-10 hours each and every week answering sitemails, but ive REALLY slacked for some time now, and especially the last few months. i want to apologize to all the guys i never got back to. i always meant to, but i just was so uninterested, i never could get up the energy, and then they would go delete themselves and i couldnt remember who sent what or anything. besides, with two children now *under 11 months*, its just been so cray, so its half real life getting in the way, half loss of interest. so sorry about that, i never meant to ignore anybody, interacting with you guys was always my favorite thing, and im sad to have missed that opportunity. hopefully nobody takes it personally.

anyway, thanks again to all the great people who have made the overall experience so rewarding over the years. i really appreciate it, and will miss you guys.

take care everyone, may your recruiting classes be full, and may your simulations be only marginally frustrating!!

i guess there are a couple pieces of house keeping before i go. i had written half of a d1 guide (sort of as a complement to jonesy's d2/d3 guide) a few months back, but never finished it. ive also considered doing a veteran FAQ similar to lostmyth's before i go. if anybody has any comments or requests, i wouldnt mind putting in a bit more time and effort just to give something back to the community before i leave. also, if anyone would be interested in taking over those dynasty lists, i wouldnt mind spending a little time cleaning that up and passing it on so someone else could run & publish them. i never kept up on them like i wanted to. actually, a bit of extra effort could turn them into a web service so you could see the dynasty lists for ANY season - that way if published season 45 and 52 in your world, you could check season 46, 47 or whatever on some web site, so that you could see where you stood at that point in time. if anyone would be interested in doing a little leg work on that, id be happy to work with you to get it up and running.

anyway if anyone has any parting requests/suggestions, please let me know here. i havent really been reading the forums the last couple weeks but i will check in on this thread.

Sorry to see you go - I would love to see a D1 guide - I can't seem to reach the very top levels at D1, so any tips you have would be greatly appreciated.

Hate to see you go. I'm too new to have gone head-to-head with you anywhere, but I really appreciate the info you've brought to the forums.

I haven't had a D1 team yet, but I plan on moving up in at least one world, so I'd really appreciate a guide, although I don't really have any informed questions to ask.

D1 guide would be awesome for everyone. The LostMyth guide was probably the best gift anyone has given the HD community.

Please read my sitemail!

Sad to see you go. You were such a great member of the community, and in our somewhat limited interactions, you seemed like a genuinely friendly and awesome guy. Good luck being a father, I'm sure you'll be a great one! I 'd also like that D1 guide to be made, if you have time. Let me know if you need any help. You were always a very positive influence and valuable member to the forums. I'll miss seeing you around, and I wish I knew ya better! I hope you come back some day! Farewell billyg.

Thank you for the time and effort you have put into the game and the community. You will be missed. But remember, after your last child has flown the coop you can always come back and this game will probably still be little changed.
