I remember the no defense era as I'll now call it well. When I first played this game however many years ago and probably had the best defensive team in the country one season with a 30 team defense rating and the national defensive player of the year with a 32 defensive rating. Interesting times...

For the record, I don't think anyone was recruiting D1 players in D3.  The players that I was recruiting were mid level D2 players.   But I have to say that NC Wesleyan in Naismith that I build during Seasons 2-5 will be a team that no one can dispute was the most dominant team ever in this game... despite only winning 1 national title.

I would say that those seasons, Dowdygate and being the first human to win a D1 title are things that I will always have to keep drawing me back to HD even after I get bored with it.

That said, I do enjoy potential, however I feel that there are not enough players who can become elite players for lower level teams.  There should be about 10-15 players with 1st round talent who fall to mid to low level teams, but take 4-5 seasons to reach that potential.  I also feel that there is too much of a drop-off of talent from 5 stars to 3 stars.  Those things ruin the fun of the game.  I also miss how a lot of the original players have either quit playing or just stopped enjoying the game in the forums and such.  It was almost like coming in here 24/7 and seeing about 200 of the same guys posting non-stop.

And then there was the post Admin (Tarek Kamil) actually keeping tabs of the forum and reading everything and commenting regularly in the forums to let us know that things were being worked on.... and then actually having things worked on.

seems like a stretch to say a club that won 1 title in 4 years is one that "no one can dispute" as the most dominant team ever... at best!

There's more to dominance than just simply winning titles..... the Super class of freshmen won the NT in season 2..... then went 28-1 before losing to a team in the 1st round of the NT during a time when there was very little coaching done other than setting depth chart and target minutes.  Then my teams went 33-1 the next 2 seasons losing in the final 4.  So for 4 seasons my team went a combined 122-9, but it wasn't simply winning games, I was winning by an average margin of over 30 points.  I'm not going to say that there weren't teams who have won more titles, because I do know that there have been some great teams and dynasties in this game... but when I was referring to dominance, I was looking at number of wins and margin of wins.

There is one thing that is without question...no one cares about this more than you do.

I remember those teams, tdowdy. I hated them!

Gotta agree.  Rails West Chester teams in Tark that won 8 titles in 9 seasons would seem to more of a claim to "Most Dominant Ever" status.  His best four year stretch was 135-5 with National Titles all four seasons.  To me, that quite easily trumps 122-9 with 1.  In fact, if you want to throw his fifth straight NT season onto the end of that, he went 168-7 with 5 titles.  So he actually had fewer losses in 5 seasons (with 4 more championships), than the "most dominant team ever" had in 4 seasons (with 4 less titles).

Sorry, doesn't matter by how much you were winning your regular season games, if you're not bringing home the hardware, it can't be considered a dominant season.  I had an absolute monster of a team last season at Wisconsin-Parkside in D2 Iba, was the consensus choice to breeze through the tournament (no less than Alblack predicted me to win every tourney game by at least 15 points) and bring home back-to-back trophies.  Made a silly coaching mistake (forgot to change my settings from the previous game) and lost by 2 in the second round in a game I probably win by 25 with the right settings.  That team went from D2 Iba "legendary status" to an afterthought just like that.  Sure upsets happen, even to the best of teams, but three times in four seasons isn't a fluke, it's a trend.
