Favorite school worth in recruiting Topic

Anyone know exactly how much favorite school is worth in recruiting? I've heard not too much but I was wondering if anyone had a correlation.

From what I understand, its worth something very small, perhaps on the order of a scouting trip or two I would guess.

Plus its kind of stupid because the kids only pick DI schools anyway. Realistic in many ways, but doesn't do anything for most coaches.

Totally pointless to have in the game if the only impact is a SV, especially since it only really pertains to the D1 level. I understand what they were shooting for with it, but it just isn't necessary.

It's definitely more than a scouting trip or two. People underrate the impact of favorite school and far from home. The close to home is extremely minimal as it should be because a school that actually benefits from that preference already has a huge edge over a school that doesn't.

I would estimate the favorite school advantage acts as a ~5% increase in your prestige.

LOL @ WAG or SWAG

I would go with a SWAG. Lol. Exchanging recruiting effort in the past gave me an idea that it actually matters.

I think it might even be a little higher than that.  I beat Duke in a battle when I was at Charlotte and the amount I ended up spending more than Duke wasn't nearly as much as I'd have guessed it to be.

a 5% increase in prestige? is that supposed to mean half a full grade? i would have guessed a good 10%, and maybe up to 20% increase on total effort, but i kind of doubt its that high...

edit: should clarify this is based on very few data points and i really dont know. i feel like i am better able to put a ceiling on it than a floor, from personal experience, but a few people have sent me examples that convinced me its non negligible...

Really, 10%? I think it's definitely possible. I don't remember all the details from that battle I referenced, but I do remember that it was clear the favorite school was an obvious factor.

Another thing that is slightly off topic is internationals also have a favorite school, but the only way you'll ever find out is if you happen to recruit him and it gets mentioned in a scouting report. Had that happened once, and almost won a battle for a Canadian guy where I was at a massive distance disadvantage, and the money was about even.

Very interesting, I may have to play this out. Problem is I have 2 recruits I want and I don't want going after 1 leaving me vulnerable to the other.

Thanks for all the feedback. If I go for the recruit then I will keep you posted.

you said 5% in prestige, i said 10-20% in total effort. thats why i asked what you meant by 5% in prestige...

yeah i think we can agree that prestige also multiplies effort. however, multiplying prestige would be multiplying your effort multiplier.
