what makes good per? Topic

Is 70 ath 80 per better than 70 sp, 80 per? BH equal.

Speed is more important than ATH in 3 point shooting.

I think the relative value is something like:

PER: 50%
SPD:25%
ATH and BH: 25%

Your teaming passing score and shot setting play into that as well but  I think those are more multipliers in the equation.

There are opponents defensive factors as well, (opponents rating, setting, type if defense) to complete the opposed roll.

Trentonjoe - not disputing what you posted, but how did you come across that info?

The #'s are just guesses based on experience. I don't have any real data.

What do u mean by team passing? Overall passing rating. Shot setting, I assume u mean +/- right?

By team passing he's saying the overall passing of the team. So if you have good passers at every position it would make your shooting better, which is one reason with my UNC team I do my best to get big guys who can pass (don't always have that option with my  lesser prestige teams). Also if you have a PG with really high BH/PA your team will shoot better as well.

Just checking .. but that adds up to 125%?

I meant Ath+ bh= 25

I used to think Ball handling was very important but I have had to many guys with bh in the 30's shoot more than 35%.

Same with ath. I have seen guys with ath in the teens shoot in the upper 30's.

Who is defending them has a lot to d o with it, but even against good defenders I have seem these type of guys do well if they have high enough speed and perimeter.

I've found that while many things - especially ATH, SPD, and BH - tend to help improve the numbers, the PER rating seems by far the biggest predictor of success for any individual player with regard to scoring from three point range.

I've had guys with somewhat limited ATH, SPD, and BH at DIII who have still lit it up for an entire season from beyond the arc.

For example, this guy is rather pedestrian (by my standards) in terms of ATH and SPD and his BH is passable but not what I'd really like it to be, and yet he was incredibly productive coming off my bench and scoring from three point land last season as a freshman.
