I coach Brooklyn in Knight. I thought I had some serious talent this year and would be a contender.  I am getting beat by teams at around 120 RPI or better.  Am I doing something wrong?  Is my team not as good as I thought?  I would appreciate any suggestions?

The first thing I noticed was your DEF ratings. You have 3 starters below 36.   You're giving up 45% shooting which, on the surface, isn't terrible but you've played mostly SIM teams.

I'd also start Blonsky over French

def rating suck...but running a zone you shouldn't be hurting too bad......Sit French have him coming off the bench, start fenner.....zone is very versatile you should play a slow down with the d ratings you have...start Winchell over elmer....the two you sit let them be your scorers off the bench.....I run the same set ups...I've been thru this recruit better defenders...your zone will be tough

Thanks guys.  I will try your tips.  I never thought about playing scorers off the bench.  I will also try the slow down.  I run a triangle.  Should I think about scrapping it?  

With the triangle, depending on your distro u can turn it into like a motion like......take a few seasons play wuth it...you can exploit miss matches well with it......just try not to depend on 3 or less scorers.....pigeon holed and easily defended then

Easy solution, Adjust your staimina settings to fairly fresh.  Here are your results from your 5 losses. Not saying you would've won every game, however you were up in every game until about 5-7 minutes left in the first half.

Up 26-14 lost by 11
Up 17-11 lost by 10
Up 19-18 lost by 22
Up 35-30 lost by 7
Up 25-19 lost by 21

Great point....i rarely take my guys off fairly fresh....unless they seem to be able to handle it well

Thanks for all the tips.  I've made some tweaks.  I'm starting Blonsky and playing Fenner (high def ratings) at PF against a scoring PF.  I am moving my scoring PF to C to exploit a weak DE at C.  I put in a defensive SG too and am playing Elmer off the bench.

Just remember the zone doesn't match up like m2m.  Just because you put a defensive PF on there scoring PF he will not guard only him like in m2m. He plays an area.

Agreed, you will give up jumpers more than you layups/dunks in theory

I think defense should be your priority next recruiting session.

You have three strong PG types with Elmer, Williams, and Claytor.   I would try to pair those guys up with a DEFENSIVE minded 2 guard.  I would recruit DEF,SPD, ATH there.   I would settle for BH/PASS in the high 30's, and 1's in PER and LP  if you can get the DEFENSIVE scores above 60.

You have a ton of scorers, you don't need another, you need a player that will improve your defense.   


These guys are all on my d3 list for next season.   I think all of them make your team significantly better and would/should start at the 2/3 for you.
