Player goes from red to black in potential? Topic

So I was looking at the new ratings tab for players and I noticed one of my guys has a beginning rebound of 10 in the red and now at season's end is at a 9 in black. Maybe I'm slow and never noticed it before, but I've never seen a player go from red to black from a drop. Anyone else see this before?

I have had a player go from black to blue once.

If a player loses rating points during the season, there's going to be a chance he changes colors. If low potential/red is up to 7 points, then if he starts the season with a 10 rebounding and his cap is 17, he's red because he's 7 from his cap. When he loses a point and drops to a 9 in rebounding, he's now 8 away from the cap...that's medium potential, so the color will change to black to reflect that. The same will happen if you go from normal to high potential distance from the cap due to lost points and the color code will change from black to blue accordingly.

In essence, thanks to the color change, you know exactly where the kid's cap in that skill is going to be.

Interesting. In all the time we've had potential, I've never noticed it before. Anyways, it made me curious and figured I'd ask. Thanks.

one other note - the numbers we see are rounded - there can be changes like this as a result of changes in the decimal versions that are actually in the game - no idea how many decimals it goes to.

Funny you should mention that -- Naismith just rolled overnight, so I was looking at my player ratings tabs to see how everyone improved in the off-season and noticed I had a kid who had a 41 BH, blue, according to the "season end" line last year. He's now a 41 BH black starting this season. Obviously the decimal moved enough in the off-season to take him from high to medium growth range without prompting the rounded/displayed rating to move any.

One of the things I have to catch myself doing is seeing RED and thinking that player has reached his cap.  Red could still be 10 points potential.

low (red) max improvement is 6 I believe.

And that is why when my players are all red (seniors mainly), I change the practice plan to all even for that guy.  Can still squeeze out a few more points in some categories!

i have a kid who was red 45 reboudning.  and i wasnt practicing RE at all as i needed minutes elsewhere
and he lost a couple points and went back to black 43.
no suprise there.

but since then i have pute a fair amount of practice into RE... and it has not moved.   I dont track practice minutes as well as i should and i do make a lot of little tweaks and changes quite often.  but pretty sure i  have had 12 to 16 minutes for at least half a season and still stuck on 43 black.  i have also changed that to zero RE at times and havent lost points either.  his WE is 35ish i think, and he plays only 12-14 min per game,  so i know its not going to grow quickly,  but it feels like it is stuck at 43.

anyone ever see anyhting like that?

1. When an attribute turns red there are up to 7 points of improvement left.

2. oldave, yes, it's a known issue.  If a player is maxed out in an attribute and loses points, the rate of re-improvement gets all screwed up.  Growth can be agonizingly slow or impossible to achieve.
