Getting a recruit to drop you Topic

Besides offering a redshirt that they reject, is there another way to get a recruit who is considering you to stop? Thanks

If you've offered a scholarship, withdrawing it has negative value, but that's about it.

I'm curious, this is the second time I've seen a thread like this and is there any specific reason you would not want a recruit considering you? Does it matter if they dont have a scholarship offer? If they dont have an offer then you can make sure you get all your other signees and it shouldn't matter if they are considering you, I feel like since i've seen 2 of these now I'm missing some reason why you wouldn't want someone considering you?

Its make you seem vulnerable to be poached sometimes.

exactly. in recruiting, managing perceptions is of the utmost importance. its probably the skill that most often separates the good recruiters from the great.

all you can do is redshirt and pull the scholarship. theoretically, if it was that important, you could apply and pull the scholarship over and over until they drop you. at least, i think it would work out like that, but i've never tried myself...

this should be an easy fix if Seble could do it. It's very important to recruiting because others think you have more recruits considering you than available scholarships....which leaves you open to battle.

Recently I had a player who got 4 scouting trips with no other consideration, and he started considering me. I offered a redshirt and the moron happily accepted. Nothing else I could do.

That has happened to me before too. There should be a recruiting option for "Reject prospect", where you can tell him that you are no longer interested in him, and that it is time to move on.

If you do this then you can never go and get the guy later. Or else people will just sit there with no interest. Knowing they've dumped a ton of money in and watch people waste their dollars

Why don't we have as coaches a "backup option" button, we can send a recruit a "Hey I think your talented but your not #1 on my board, if other recruits fall through then you will move up and we will talk then."

Basically it tells the recruit that your not interested in recruiting them at this time but depending on where chips fall they may become your target again.

This in turn can give the coach 2 different emails either

1- "I'm better than your #1 option and its sad you can't see it, good luck but I didn't like your school anyways."
or

2- "Thanks for being honest coach, I'm hoping to talk to you again soon and good luck in your search."

Then BAM recruit stops considering your school and the coach will know right away if he can ever come back and pursue that recruit in the future.
