Childhood Favorite School=Immediately Recruitable? Topic

I have a B- prestige D1 school, and performed a search for players listing my school as their childhood favorite.  I noticed one player was 4* and ranked in the top 15 at their position.  Since my school is listed as their favorite, does this mean they are immediately recruitable to me, without having to pull them down?  I don't have a hell of a lot of experience at D1, but I always figured that a 4* player would still need to be pulled down by a B- prestige team.

My other consideration though, is that childhood favorite could be so random to allow weird scenario's to arise where a player wouldn't ever even attend that school.  I wouldn't be totally surprised to see a school listed as a childhood favorite, then get a message about the player not even knowing who you are.

Even if I don't have any interest in recruiting the player, this may be a good tactic to determine approximately how high you can shoot without having to pull a player down.

I'm only guessing, but I think you're right about him not knowing who you are, as email communications don't always reflect specific situations.

Ages ago on a different account, I was the NCOY at McNeese St. Next recruiting season, I called a 5-star in hometown Lake Charles, LA. He didn't know who I was. Really? There was no buzz about our deep NT run in the area? We never did camps in the area? I was never on TV? Admin admitted, OK, he'd know who I was, but that he'd still go to more prestigious program. OK, then reflect that in the recruit's email. But, no. It doesn't happen.

I think the argument would go "you're his favorite school, but only from a rooting-for standpoint. He's still going to Kentucky or UCLA."

I have no problem with email responses that don't exactly reflect specific situations perfectly.  It helps add a little flavor to the game, and I know they aren't to be taken literally.

Perhaps I was a little long-winded in my initial post.  Basically my question is, if a player lists your school as his childhood favorite, is he immediately recruitable (not a pulldown)?  I will shoot the player I referenced a coaches call when recruiting starts tonight and update this thread for anyone interested in the answer.

I was a C+ at BYU

ineligible 4* recruit within 300 miles with favorite school BYU.

Required pulldown.

(Happened this past Crum recruiting cycle)

Yeah that's what happened to me too. Interestingly enough, I have to pull down the #14 player at their position (240 miles away) however a different player, 5* and ranked #3, is immediately recruitable to me since he is only 10 miles away.
