athleticism relationship to rebounding Topic

do you prefer a C with 90 ath and 70 reb or 70 ath and 90 reb? i was always under the impression that the former made for a better rebounder, but this season, my two big men (cunningham and mcdaniel) have regularly been getting beat on the boards, even when they were playing MUCH less athletic rebounders who played a +4/+2 v. -1 (see here). this might be too small a sample size, just surprised that a player with > 90 ATH and 70 REB would be averaging less than 9 RPG and my first thought is that his REB is on the lower end of acceptable and a higher ath doesn't make up for it.

the 90 reb guy is going to be the better rebounder, but i'll take the 90 ath guy because he'll be better on offense and defense, all else being equal.

I think one of the dev chats also confirmed that work ethic is a factor in rebounding as well.

pk: i looked it up. apparently that was the case, pre-nov. 2007 update. from the dev chat:

I thought work ethic had more impact than just desire to improve - for example, two otherwise identical centers with differing WE would have differing potential to collect the same rebound. Not so? (kcsundevil - Hall of Famer - 3:58 PM)
I think initially did play a small role in rebounding but it does not impact rebounding now. Work ethic can be thought of as a general willingness to want to improve whereas rebounding and defensive ratings are more indicative of the player's willingness to work at that aspect of the game.

I agree with Kimble.

I know we (me/jtt) disagree on this topic though.
