Instead of it being just window dressing, I'd like to see there be a reward for having the player of the yr or being coach of the yr. Maybe each of those get $500 in recruiting bonus $. Then maybe first team players would get $300 each, 2nd $200, 3rd $100 and honorable mention gets $50. It would spice things up more for the race for player of the yr. I've had a players get that twice in 20 seasons. It's cool, but then again it's like no big deal.

Player of the year can too easily be gamed and is often not nearly the best player

Yeah, a bad team can put distro to one player and get him to score 25+ and not be in the conference champion race and still get player of the year.

If they want to suck because of that, then go for it. $500 won't make or break anyone, but is a nice reward. I've never alter my GP to try to get it, but got it 4xs. I'd have to kindly disagree that it's to easy to be fixed. It's pretty easy to shut a player down if they only focus on one player too.

If we could vote on Player and Coach of the Year (Sim stay under the same formula), then this award would mean a lot more.  But making money into recruiting would hurt that because some people would vote poorly to avoid giving someone $500.  If there was no money I think that voting would be really fun!

I've suggested voting for conference awards before too. I really think something like that is necessary to encourage more conference interaction and game interest. It's too easy to set HD on auto pilot and not really think about it too much, which leads to apathy and eventually quitting.

They can vote in HBD, so I don't see why it couldn't necessarily be done here in HD.

The difference between HBD, and HD, is that in HBD there are no sims running the teams. In HD, there are conferences where there are no humans, and all sims running  teams. So, how would sims run teams vote?

Same way the engine picks now. But the human coaches could get a ballet. I don't know if you'd include your own team or not. But the SIM teams could use the same formula already in play.
