How many STs when you can pull a guy down? Topic

I got the backup call.  How many STs should I send?  Should you go straight 10?  Or go in waves?  Obviously Scholly as well.

Before signings start I just do 10 in one block....After that I send them in twos.

Even pulling D2 to D3?

10 usually does it for me before signings, but I remember once when I was recruiting with a B prestige it took something like 35 to pull down one SF. At least he went on to be a DIII All-American so I can say it was worth it!

See sometimes the messages I get make me believe 6 or 7 would have done it. That's why I asked

Well this is true, I have pulled a guy down in 4 before, you really never know but the rule of thumb  currently is 10. Most attempts to pull down you want to achieve this as fast as possible because if he is really worthy of a pulldown, if you dont do it, someone else will. So most coaches lead with 10 to get the job done quickly instead of spending several cycles trying to conserve cash.

It varies, I'm not entirely sure on what.

I've personally had as little as six visits pull someone down and as many as 25.

Be careful, though - you won't know if someone else is attempting to pull him down until they're successful (as I believe they won't be "considering" you or anyone else until they're pulled down), so sometimes no one will be on the guy (or so it appears) and then suddenly you pull him down and you and another guy (and sometimes three) are on him all in one cycle. Of course this works both ways - they don't know you're on him until you pull him down either.

As others have said, somewhere between 10 and a few more usually work for div-2 to div-3 and diiv-1 (greater ranking than 125) to div-2.

16 is the number I use for .. I want him this turn or else.  Very seldom does 16 not pull a guy down to a div-3 or div-2 team.  It can take considerably more (in my experience)  to pull down a very good (ie 3 ,4, 5 start recruit) Div-1 guy to a lower prestige div-1 school.  I have had to use 30 or more on several occasions to try to get high star players to mid-major B or B- teams.
