The problem is this : when you start building a team, it's tough to let it go. The faster I let that team go, the easier it is. All the recruits on IUPUI except one PF... JR, I brought in. The two other JR I kept are really not helping my team. They are pluggers. I hope to get a particular job I am seeking when the jobs offers open up. I truly had trouble leaving NCCentral... I am still checking how my recruits are doing on that DII team. I see you have a lot of experience in D1. I probably will have an opportunity to move somewhere good... If not, I will miss the boat cause the team I am looking at has 6 schollies opened next year, which means a quick fix.

well, st. joe's is a better job than la salle.

unless i'm mistaken the highest baseline jobs in tark that were open this season are:

west virginia B
st joe's B
la salle B-
st. bonaventure B-

there are 3 MWC teams (BYU, Denver, NTX) that are C in a pretty full conference. NTX you won't qualify for, BYU you might not quality for. there's also a bunch of open MAC/MVC/WCC teams that are baseline C, but those conferences aren't very full, so moving there from IUPUI would be totally stupid. if you're going to move anyway, you should take the highest baseline prestige job you can (though i think the general advice here was 'don't move if your goal is getting a big 6 job')

Yeah, I think right now La Salle is C+, 7-20 so probably going near C. St-Bonaventure is C but went 17-11 so probably closing in on C+, not sure. As of St-Joseph's unless we both are D+, it is probably a step backward for us.

BYU is C going through a tough season at 8-19, Denver is D-, I am sure I will get that offer, but won't take it. And North Texas is B-, so I can forget about it, but that'd be the best of them all. I'd play with you Bath!!! (Smile)

So I am still thinking La Salle or BYU. I doubt I get an offer for La Salle so I probably will need to settle for BYU, if I get an offer.

If not, IUPUI is not so bad. People are starting to wear my name on their jerseys when they come to the games. The Miracle Coach, Coach of the year, Conf tournament win, Best season in 10 years.

But the baseline prestige is what matters. St Joe's is the best of them. The current prestige isn't really that important--all these teams suck right now! You can make them all better on a similar timetable, but St Joe's will have a higher ceiling, which is what you said you were looking for.

To be honest with you, you might only qualify for St Joe's and Denver. Denver is a horrible job with CU, CSU, AF, and WY all human coached.

I got to C- Bath. I am aiming at low C team. Maybe I get a longshot possibility? Will see.

My guess is you'll only qualify for D- through D+ jobs but no C-'s.  Welcome to D1 job logic.

my point remains the same. the current prestige is irrelevant for these teams. they're all bad now. the highest ceiling is the best job of these bad teams.

zorzii, the job at Tulsa just came open in an otherwise full conference.  D prestige currently but I believe it's a C baseline prestige.

I am qualified to D+ on everyteam, except the teams that have high ceilings... Which means I am qualified for all bad jobs. There are a lot of good opportunities I can't take. I think it is better to jump from DII into a mid-major and it's easier. Once you are in D1, the job application seems broken. Pretty ridiculous. I pulled a miracle turn around in two years and yet, nobody wants me but bad teams.

I am remaining at IUPUI. Was hoping to go to La Salle.

well you have to face facts--the jobs logic isn't going to allow you to do what you want to do, which is skip a couple seasons of developing a program. the high prestige programs, even mid-major ones, aren't going to hire you. it took me 5 seasons at winthrop just to move to C- wyoming...and when i moved winthrop was C+. you are looking at a move like that as a step back, and you don't want to do that. but it was a higher baseline prestige job in a better conference with more humans. it's a better job. it's a better place to develop a program.

if you're in it for the long haul, if i were you i'd consider tulsa, as shafty suggested. CUSA is a good conference in tark.

Come to St Joe's and join me in Philly

Did not qualify because of the base prestige. It had six schollies perfect fit this Year . Maybe next.

The job offers in D1 are strange, My advisor is saying on all jobs step backwards or keep looking... I am longshot on Missouri St. and Evansville D and D+ teams. Why would I take either of these teams? So basically, I have no option to move up.

It's always going to be that way. I was stepping backwards when I went from ETSU to South Carolina, because ETSU was a B and South Carolina was a C+ at the time. Don't worry about whether it's a step backwards as long as you plan on being there for a bit. If you wanted that Tulsa job with a little higher baseline and in a better conference, go for it. Unless you want to jump again in 4-5 seasons, the loyalty hit is not going to be a problem. If you want to be Big Six in 4-5 seasons, stay where you are, because starting another rebuild is a bad idea. But if there's a place you can get where you'll be happy for a little longer term, go for it.

according to the jobs logic, it was a step backwards when i moved from winthrop to wyoming. i don't regret that move at all though.

part of your problem is that you just had a bad year when you took over IUPUI. obviously it wasn't your fault but it's in your recent coaching history.
