My second season Topic

I've studied a lot during my first season

Just wondering if some seasoned coaches can give me some feedback. Good and bad for how I am doing.

Just wanna make sure I am not creating any bad habits that might hold me back and keep doing wat I'm doing right

Any feedback is appreciated.

Plus prediction on if u think my team is a pi team. Or if u think I have a shot at an at large bid in nt

some of the player you've recruited are lower than you want to be targeting. you seem to be doing quite well for a 2nd season coach, so props for that! but i figure you are looking for ways to continue to improve...

so my questions are, are you using FSS to scout all players you recruit? if not, you need to be. are you familiar with dropdowns and pulldowns? overall the ath/spd figures of your incoming guys are low and probably rebounding in your bigs, too.

Would u recommend going earlier in recruiting or going late. Until I get my prestige up high

I have been using fss. Pull downs I am a bit scared to try. Each season I picked a transfer off a sin team. Last year a senior who made second team all conference. This year decker

another thing is David Jerrett while having great starting cores isn't going to get any better wth his WE.  I'd try and figure out a number that you don't go under.  I know some people have limits of 35,30,25,20.  Personally my limit is 13, if I will be able to rs + start 2+ years or start 2 plus years with decent playing time.  But thats pretty low and a lot of people don't like having players develop so slow.

You also seem to be grabbing a lot of those Fowards that aren't really good enough rebounders/sb to play PF or athletic and quick enough to play SF.  Guys Walters(low bh/pas for SF not enough reb for pf) Waller(reb/sb) Cope(reb/sb, but also only a freshmen and I don't know his potential)

As well as grabbing too many of those fowards as you only have 1 center and 1 guard of the guys you brought in.  Meaning in a few seasons as they become upperclassmen you will have to be playing younger guys as you can't play all those fowards at PG/C.  I;d try and grab a few 70+ spd 60+ bh/pas guys to play PG and then some 40+ ath 80+ reb/sb guys to play Center.

Pulldowns are tough, its hard to know when you are going to be able to grab him or if another school is going to come after him.  Depedning on how many scholarships you have I'd focus on only pullding down the guys very close to you, within 100 miles it should be just around or under 1.5K for 10 ST and a scholly which usually is enough.  If there is someone pretty good and you want him I'd send 1.5K and try and grab him.  You will always be able to take a walk on or sign an average guy for cheap.  Also be sure to send Coach calls to the D2 players as you never know who well drop down and they are only $10.

I bumped and will link the aejones guide here.

Heres a bad FAQ made by me but has some basic info here.

Go early!  The only time I MIGHT wait is if I only need one player.

Pulldowns are difficult at D3, since our funds are limited.   As was previously posted, call them once. That will tell you of their interest in your team.

Good job! Second season, you are doing a lot better than I was. My second season, I was destroying Truman St. DII. Third season, that team went 2-25. ?? one thing though, I am not a big transfer fan.

PF - waller should hit 50 ath, 64 reb, 70 def, 55 block, and 71 plus low post.  with his 61 WE

C- Benevides should hit 55 ath, 40 speed, 75 reb, 55 def, close to 80 block, 20 low post  with his 59 WE

PF - Bill Cope should hit 41 ath, 68 plus reb (still blue at 48), 44 plus def, (blue at 24 right now), block should hit 40, low post hit 62-65.

those are the post players i recruited with traverso being a carry over and senior.

how seeing estimates of their maxes how you think they are ?

for point guard  i got maxes on

newman should max at 35 ath, 80 speed, 63 per, (right now bh and pass are blue with 66-61, hoping he can get close to 90s in both)  with a 65 WE

jarret with low worth ethic and one year behind newman, am hoping he can back him up for 2 years and start as a senior.
ath 60 speed 58 def 53, per 47, bh 54, and pass 56 might see very minimal gains.  hoping if anything to get bh and pass into the 60s.

then transfers walters and deckers are saw as good fillers in my early years, athletic defensive players, walters can contribute a little on offense too, and decker has good enough ball handle to cause teams to foul him, get to the free throw line.

------
one main question is i signed harrison with 30 WE, thinking i would start him as a freshman, and i ended up getting 2 transfers that were better in my first season that took up minutes, one of them was second team all conference last year.

Harrison is blue in reb 54+, def 53+, shot block 35+, perimeter 79+, ball handle 59+ and pass 52+, ....numbers in parenthesis is his current number plus 20 to see where he could be.   i was thinking about giving up on him, but his three point potential for not having an outside shooting next year is worth keeping by itself.
