Updates doesn't matter at this point Topic

Just read the dev chat and I can now say with almost 100% certainty that I'll use up my remaining seasons and credits and call it a career.  The only thing wrong with the game as is, is that the marketing and advertisement of it sucks and is minimal at best.  The jobs process at D1 (firings/hirings) needs fixed and recruit generation at the highest level is still a mess, but what is being changed and updated needed neither changed nor updated.  This seems to be nothing but a way to placate those coaches calling for a change, any change, to the game.  Recruiting was fine as it was, this is nothing but a band-aid buying time to fix what should be fixed, the problem areas of the game.  Recruiting was NOT one of those areas.  I saw a lot of "hoping that this" and "hoping that that" in the dev chat answers and that gives me a really bad feeling.

I've been playing for a decade or so now and in fact, have been at Northeastern State in D2 Tark since season 3 under my other ID.  Shame that I've put in over 100 seasons at the same school and will finally decide to leave not because of boredom or out of necessity, but because of change for the sake of change.  I've got this ID and dcy0827, so keep your eyes open in the next several months because the overwhelming odds are that some pretty damn good teams will be coming open.  Prediction:  this update will be the final blow to kill off what was once a wonderful game.  That is, unless you feel like playing in worlds with 50 or so human coaches per division.  Mass exodus is coming, mark my words.  Wow, fun fun.  ;^(

I wonder if anyone of any importance will read some of these threads and see the general animosity that coaches seem to now have towards this update.  Oh sure, some will be for it but those almost all fall into the "change for the sake of change" crowd.  There's an old saying that applies perfectly here, I assume just about everyone over the age of 10 has heard it:  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  Parts of HD are broken, this isn't one of those parts.  Such a shame.

Yeah I've read a lot of people saying things like "I'm just happy WIS is finally paying attention to HD" without regard to what is actually being changed.  I'd much rather have no attention be given to the game than a "fix" for what isn't broken...and worse a "fix" for the best part of the game...which is recruiting.

I'm strongly considering leaving too, but emy, let's stick around in Rupp Central Atlantic until this update rolls out.  We got something great going there and I wanna enjoy every last second of it until the game is changed (ruined?) completely.

The more I read about this update, the less impressed I am and the more I am leaning towards joining the exodus of long-time coaches.

Seble just really doesn't seem to be clued in to how this game currently operates and what makes it fun for those who prefer D2/D3.  His answers in the developer chat make him sound like someone who is stubbornly attached to the way he wants this game to work...rather than someone who listens to the people who actually pay for this game and caters to them.

Disappointing...
+1
This may very well be the most spot-on remark written so far about this update.
I agree completely. His tone was dictator like, everything seems set for him so there's really no point of us giving him anymore feedback on this. He's obsessed with high level D1 and not giving a damn about anyone else.
Sad...but sure does seem that way.  I really don't understand his attitude on this because shouldn't the goal be pleasing those who make it possible for you to have a job?  Unless, he still has job security no matter how much money this game makes...which I suppose is possible...

I'm not sure it even matters at this point, but HV and CV could still be variable pricing based on distance.  So geography could still matter.  I.e, the closer you are the cheaper the HV, just like it is now.

Basically, it's like stewdog has been saying all along - it's socialism / leveling the playing field in a BIG way for d2 and d3… less so for D1, but really prestige and geography will be the main variables besides effort and luck.

That's essentially what I keep saying, he has made some assumptions that many don't agree with about how he feels the game should work and seems to want to act unilaterally to change HD toward those questionable assumptions.

Seble = Obama

Welcome to WIS Socialism where it doesn't matter if you win or lose, you all get the same recruiting money anyway.

Succumbing to the cries of the coaches who could never succeed in the current system.

SAD

I don't think anyone is crying out for the elimination of post-season money. At all.  Like literally no one is but Seble.  There's no bad coaches saying they should make it easier by eliminating post season cash.

I think what makes the game fun is that it is difficult. But we still don't know what Seble will do. So I guess we should stop being so overdramatic and state our points with logic. He will listen to logic.

1) I think the recruiting period (Schedule), cycles and all is minor. It can improve the game if it's not more time consuming.

The rest need to be discussed, but positively until we can agree on change.

2) We all said what we want Seble to fix and what would be minor ajustments that would make the game more fun. He seems to be listening. So let him make up his mind and will see what he comes up with.

You are an idiot.

Well thought out post. Why don't you elaborate if you can refrain from personal attacks.

I understand the reluctance of players to give up postseason cash, but from low Div-1 perspective the money imbalance seems really way too strong. Prestige still stays in place, so the Big-6 still maintains advantages... just not so top heavy. It often tends to look less like recruiting and more like just drafting.

For these reasons among others, i like the new update ideas.

NO PRESTIGE UPDATES WTF.... YOU ARENT FIXING ANYTHING YOUR JUST SHITTING ON BIGGER SCHOOLS AND HOPING THE LOWER SCHOOLS CAN "RECRUIT WELL" ENOUGH TO COMPETE.....
i'd be against a prestige update at least with all he's done. the problem isn't prestige. its recruit generation - prestige was fine before. and, if you don't like prestige, play d2/d3. thats what d1 is. its d2/d3 with prestige (im simplifying - but really - how much am i simplifying?? the hierarchy is what makes d1 d1).

sorry, mully, but hes right. not about you being an idiot. but your post is generally composed as if an idiot wrote it. the problem with comparing a person to an incredibly decisive figure, is that figure is, of course, incredibly decisive. comparisons that make sense are comparisons that relate to things that people relate to in a common way.

I understand a lot of people are fearing this update, and guys that have been here way longer and spent way more money. But I just don't get saying you are done with this game before you even see what the new product is? I'm not in anyway saying that it is going to be better, but at least give it a chance to be. If you are saying you are going to quit as soon as the update hits, are you not being as stubborn as you are claiming seble to be?
