Can I compete with D1 schools Topic

I am a D2 A- prestige D2 team and I started recruiting a D1 prospect (189 position rank 10 miles away from my school) and his coach didn't say anything about me being a backup option so I gave him some Hv and Cv and he considered me. But now 2 D1 B- prestige schools are on to him and I'm not being considered anymore, can I realistically steal this player from them or do I have to wait and hope he drops.

it sounds like you are pretty screwed. two b- humans, are probably tough to beat. how far away are they? just curious. i mean, you can watch, and if it looks like they are both REALLY busy with other battles and one just backs down and the other one is getting him for next to nothing, you could try to make a play. its EXCEEDINGLY risky though. really unless your plan for the team is totally in tact if you lose the player, and unless you are a very experienced coach, its just way to risky to even worry about.

keep in mind, you get 5k per a scholarship, they get 15k, and their money goes over twice as far as theirs (if they spend 5k and you spend 10k, at equal distance, you lose).

One is 120 and another is 450.

I would probably move on. I think that the B- at D1 is probably a lot more powerful than an A- at D2, and the probably have so much more money. Wish I had better news for you. Your only hope would be if both of the D1 schools find another player they like better and end up not signing him, but that is pretty unlikely.

Funny I'm on both sides of it right now, a D3 A- guy is competing with me for a different guy, he is also farther away from the recruit then I am, I have a feeling I am going to win that battle.

Those 2 scenarios aren't remotely close. The difference between a D3 battling a D2 isn't that much. The D3 gets $3K per open slot, the D2 gets $5K. The prestige difference from the D2 school down to the D3 isn't significant (probably a CV more than covers it). For all purposes, it's still basically a dollar value auction and whoever can afford the most effort wins.

For D2 vs. D1, the D2 has $5K per open slot vs. $20K per open slot of the D1. The prestige factor takes a huge leap at D1, so for each grade you go down (D1 B to C, C to D, D to D-, D- to D2) you will have to make a significant recruiting influence increase to bridge the gap. Being 10 miles away is nice, but if 2 humans are on the kid that's an indication of intent and your only hope of winning is to keep the scholarship on him and then just wait and hope both D1 programs find something better and withdraw their offers, putting you back in a position to be top dog on the kid.

I thought D1 was 15K per schollie?  But, for what it's worth, I haven't played D1 for a few seasons now and it could have changed I suppose.

yes, $15k per scholly, but $20k for each postseason game (to be spread among the conference).  I get those mixed up sometimes too.

Well Eff!  Thanks for correcting me guys.

Nice to know it's only a 3-to-1 disadvantage for scholarships rather than 4-to-1.

Lol, yes, the greater point of D1 schools having silly money compared to D2 is true.  Sorry OP, but you're behind the 8 ball on this, as stated above the best hope is that they both choose someone else and you get him after.

I didn't get him, I got the guy the D3 guy wanted and a very good D2 guy who will be 99 perimeter that two A+ guys wanted but I spent $8k out of my about $14k of money after I bought Future stars scouting. But after the $2,300 I spent on the D1 guy I couldn't fill my other offer and had to take a walk on.

Absolutely nothing wrong with taking a walk-on.

I was mad cause I thought I only had a two person class which kinda stinks for when they are seniors but then I realized I had a redshirt

Question again, a little different. I'm now a B D2 team competing With a D+ sim D1. The sim already has 2 guys signed out of 3. I have spent 4K on this guy with about 2k left. Most of that was spent before I even knew there was another school. Should I try and get another guy with my 2k or should I just go all in and go for him. I only have 1 open scholarship so it's not that important to get someone but I would rather not have 5-6 freshman next season.

Are you close?....is it after signings?....how much time is left?
