Rebuild a low D1 or sty high D2 for moving to big6 Topic

Just another quick question about moving to upper big 6.

Which helps more in getting to Big 6 jobs better?

Moving to D1 asap and rebuilding a bad school before getting big 6

or stay D2 and just jumping from there(since I see the occasional high D2 to Big 6)

I guess it takes about the same 3-4 seasons of D2 then 4/5 seasons of D1 maybe compared to like 8-10 seasons of high D2 to Big 6.

Well, I would say it depends on what kind of Big6 job you want.  If you would be satisfied with a lower Big6 Job (ie B- Baseline team, currently lower than that actual Prestige), or if you want to get a better Big6 job.

If you want a good Big6 job, you are much more likely to get it from a lower tier Div-1 team that you have built to a B prestige than from and Div-2 team.  If you are OK with Hawaii or Fresno State, etc. then coming from Div-2 is fine.

yeah, wasn't this just a big thread 0nly? :)

If you just want to get to Big6, multiple ways to do it (all revolve around wins and NT wins).  Keep in mind even if you go to Fresno or whatever, you can build there (hard, but you can do it) and maybe be eligible to move up within Big6 teams.  Of course if there openings.  Moving to upper big 6 right from a low D1 or D2 will be hard unless it's someone that has been beaten down recently like NC State mentioned in another thread.  Might be easier to do low - mid major - upper big 6 for that.  or maybe d2 - mid major, upper big 6

If so I missed the thread?

the title is misleading compared to yours, but a lot of the same info covered.  What to look for ...

I mean I guess I'd be aiming for the good B- baseline teams that have dropped to the C range.

if you can put together a quality a+ d2 program, you can jump right into the BCS conferences. at least, that used to be the case, im pretty sure it still is. you jump around so much, might want to consider sitting tight there and trying to do the d2 -> bcs route! but generally speaking its quicker through low d1 - if you can make it through low d1, that is, definitely not a guarantee into today's game.

It is Gillespie. Time, success and rep helps out. Nine years at Findlay A- and I qualified for Clemson.

I think it's more fun to do it from DII but if you do no get final fours season and more, it's faster from D1. And say you put together one or two bad seasons... You just made the job tougher...

Agree, it still is...I could have jumped from D2 into Ohio St. this past season and have a look a couple cycles back at going D2->Virginia.
