Surpassing a sim without additional effort Topic

I'm a B- prestige D1 school, and I sent out a scholarship offer and a few scouting visits to a player I thought might have development potential, who was only being considered by a D prestige school.  I show up as clearly behind on FSS, and without putting anymore work into him, after signings start I get a scholarship message saying I have pulled ahead and FSS shows I have also pulled ahead.  Any idea how that's possible?  My only guess is that the player preferred "far from home" and I was further from home than the sim.

Isn't it your B- prestige that did the work?

It happens a lot in recruiting against sims.......I think considering credit plays a role in it as well as prestige.....I've never checked the "far from home" stuff but I pretty much bank on passing sims at D3 if I can get considered....

so, while recruiting in D3 (have not spent a lot of time there, so its new to me) .. I noticed that if I had an opening available toward the end of recruiting (also after signing started .. so how this is sort of relevant to the original post), several players who I didn't recruit in any way appeared as considering me.  Does that happen a lot at Div-3.  I guess it is possible that some of them were JUCOs (I didn't pay attention).  But basically, all the A or A+ Div-3 teams that had any available scholarships started getting multiple players considering them the last day of recruiting.  I know for a fact that I had put no effort in any of those guys this recruiting season.

it's fairly common for the recruits to lower their recruiting requirements as the end of the recruiting sessions nears.

A recruit that may not consider you after your initial effort on day 1, could consider you without any additional effort by day 3-4.

If the recruit had you on the consideration list after signings and you're only up against the SIM, then they will start recruiting other undecided recruits to fill their openings (i.e. even though they are leading on this recruit, they aren't going to take a walk on if they lose said recruit).  Once all of their openings fill, you then become the only school being considered (the recruit will sign immediately if you've offered a schollie, otherwise you'll get a scholarship mail indicating you are now leading being the only school he's considering now that the SIM has filled all their openings).

This only occurs the morning after signings begun (when the SIMs begin putting their secondary effort to fill any openings that didn't get filled immediately after signings).

How about being a A- D3 battling a B- D2? No chance?

All depends on money and distances each team is from the recruit.

I'm pretty sure it would be any division but the issue would be if you plan on trailing a SIM after signings, at the lower divisions you'd run an extreme risk that another program would come along and view that recruit as a viable target (either from the division above or the same division).

So if your a D2 school trailing another D2 SIM with say 3 openings (and this was his 1 and only initial target) and the recruit was only slightly leaning to the SIM (not definately), then the morning after signings had started that D2 SIM would recruit 3 more recruits (not 2) that were undecided at the time and offer all 3 schollies.  Assuming no other human jumped on those 3, the next cycle they would all sign thus leaving that recruit in question only considering you.
