If you have 1 scholarship to fill. Do you go for the best player possible and maybe take a walk on or do you sign a bench player and carry out as much as possible money to next season? Lately I've been going for a high ranked recruit and if I don't sign him at least my competition had to spend a little more to get him. I very rarely use my 12th player in the season so I walk on doesn't hurt.
not teh bench player option - unless they are a senior transfer. never take a player you wouldn't be happy to sign, just for rollover.
i know a lot of coaches look at classes differently than me - they will sign a couple really good guys, and then think well, ive got 1-2 spots left, i already got some really good guys, i can lower the bar a bit. i think that is the wrong way to look at it, because a walkon in this game hurts pretty slightly. to me, the last spot you fill has the highest bar. otherwise, take the money for next season, so you can use it to get top guys then. press and fb/fcp especially, depth is more important, but at least in man/zone i think the deeper you are into filling spots, the better the guys have to be. ill compromise to get a 4th guard on my team, so i dont take a major hit... but i will (almost) never compromise on my 5th!
