I have questions? Topic

I'm very fond of the player roles section myself.  It's one less tabbing out I have to do.  I wish gridiron and hardball would do the same.  As for the previous years stats, the gpa and the free throw percentage are really the only things I care about as well.
Again, how do you use it?

player roles is a tool that can be useful in recruiting.  I dont use it, but you can use it to create a prepackaged search template.  never seemed worth doing to me.

High school GPA is helpful too, along with FT%. A high GPA along with a high Work Ethic help the player improve faster in IQ and Ratings.
I came upon that question when I saw my new recruit with 3 PE shot something like 46% from 3. I thought that it was all inaccurate. Is it a well known fact that free throws is accurate?
2nd time today I'm linking Only's mega FAQs thread. We should bump this thing periodically.

Scroll down to the part about FT%.

Yes, I have.

I use free throw shooting percentage.

Not really.

Yes.  Quite a bit.

Yes.  Quite a bit.  It helps me organize things.

Eh?

It SHOULD matter more.

I woudl not agree with player roles being useless, its a tool which helps me sort through my roster and figure out how I want to set things up.  Yes, I could do the same thing in excel, but its handy to have it in game.  THe same with changing player roster spots.

How do u use it to sort through your roster?
I have several templates for types of players I like to fill a position.  I can then look at all the players with that template and see which ones fit best.  yes, I use the eye test, but sometimes having something that challenges the simple eye test is good.  And it can also tell you when, due to growth, a certain player might be becomign suitable for a new position, for example.

Does anybody care about Durability? Why is it even there? Has anyone ever had a player that got hurt for more than like 5 games?

Does anybody care about previous season stats when recruiting high school players? Why are they there?

Does anybody care about recruiting class rankings? what goes into recruiting class ranking?

Does anybody use Player Roles?

Does anybody change their players positions? Why would you?

Why is there a max records option? Why not just make it unlimited?

Does anybody care about favorite school?

there seems to be a lot of useless stuff in this game,,,

1. I like having injuries, makes the game more realistic. I haven't had anything major but its a nice feature.

2. Yes

3. Yes

4. Yes

5. Yes, makes things easier to gameplan and set a depth chart. I have recruited PG's for SF's, etc. So just cleans things ups and sometimes a player is a PG one year, an SF another year.

6. No idea

7. Yes, its nice to look at and see the odd guy who loves my school.

1.I don't have a problem with injuries it makes it realistic, I'm just saying that nobody looks at it at all, and it just messes up overall ratings.

3. Why do you care about recruiting class rankings? They are not accurate at all.

7. I think that Favorite school should mean something like it does in real life. I imagine myself a college prospect and I get a call from Virginia tech (I am a Virginia native, almost my whole fathers side of the family went there, and I have been a die hard tech fan from birth) I would be way more excited about a call from them opposed to a call from Illinois (another team of close prestige) and vice versa a guy grown up as an Illinois fan. It's a major part of recruiting in real life and in order to make this game realistic it should mean something.

Recruiting class rankings are accurate, based on the same equations that rank recruits.

While most coaches look at something different than the game for rankings, that does not mean those coaches are really correct.

In other words, we are not 100% sure we know every impact of every attribute on every aspect of game play. The people creating the rankings do.

But do we know what goes into them? Does it take into account potential? Does it take into account WE and wether he will improve to his maximum potential? Does it take into account wether it's a fit for your team? What if a guy is a great player for a triangle and zone set but gets recruited to a fast break and press team when he has like 50 stamina and he's red potential, he will not succeed there but he might be ranked highly.

If you devalue an attribute such as durability, make it a part of your search criteria using the < option. I like to get fresh perspectives with various searches, including < DUR, by GPA and by FT%. The problem with any one restrictive search is that some otherwise good players will slip through the cracks (e.g., a great player who also happens to have a high DUR, yes you'd have liked to shuffle some of those points elsewhere, but...)

I've even searched by the window dressing stats (PPG, etc...) just to get a new horizon. Those stats don't matter, but a few players have emerged from the search.

What I would rather do is get rid of durability all together and make injuries completely random.

no thank you
12/16/2015 10:48 AM
I mean I guess it serves it's purpose, but nobody takes it into account and it doesn't have much of an effect anyway.

I have had guys injured and ineffective (altho over 60%) for much of a season.  Very low DUR is a risk - but I am willing to take it.

injuries are completely random .. durability is how fast the recruit recovers from injury.
