I redshirted a Fr, PG, today. He was not a happy camper when he found out. He said I should have told him when I recruited him that I was going to redshirt him, and his WE immediately dropped from 55 to 14.  My question is; Should I restore his eligibility?, And if I do; Will that make him happy enough to raise his WE back up, close to it''s original rating?  If I do restore his eligibility, he probably won't play more than 5-10 MPG, or mop up duty. So would it be better to just let him mope as a redshirt this season, or to restore him with limited playing time?

If this was the first rs attempt then yes the we will be restored to 55.

It is much better to have him at 55 we and limited play time then 14 we and rs, the extra season won' help with the terrible we.  He will most likely max or get close with the 55 we and won't touch his max with the 14 we even with the rs.

whatever attempt it will return to the original. 14 WE is too low for anything IMHO. Search the forums for threads by author TrentonJoe about low WE study or something and see if you think its worth the drop in his development for the extra year. 

14 is pretty low, you'll only get 6ish points out of hihi's with 20 minutes....if he doesn't have a whole lot of growth OR if he only has a few blues  it might be worth it but it probably isn't.....if you post his potentials, I can project stuff out for you

well since he is all red, besides defense you can get away with it since all you need to do is put the min into everything put into conditioning/def/ft and he will get pretty much to developed I would assume

For my two cents worth, just RS him!

all red...why not. if it helps with balance. should still max out ath and def and ft in 5 seasons...it'll take a little longer, but you'll have him around an extra season, so what's the trade of worth to you.

I would go 20 COND, 20 FT, 1 everywhere else and the rest in DEF.....With a 14 (assuming he doesn't start) you're looking at like an 80 DEF somewhere near the end of SOPH year or beginning of JR......if one of the red's starts dropping you can put some extra minutes in that.....dudes not a stud though, if you have anyone else worth RS'ing I go with another option....he's gonna be the same player without the RS by the middle of his sophomore year if yo udon't

I know he's not a stud, but if his D, and Ft go up, he should be a decent backup, or possible serviceable starter. Thanks guys, I appreciate the input.  Still not 100% sure what I'll do, but am leaning towards the RS, and using the guidelines provided by scaturo.
