here is a semi related question:

who is the "anti-myers"?

a d3 coach who is really succesful with poor (or at least below average) defense.

what is the worst team DE you have seen win the D3 NC?     i cant really remember any less than 50,  but im sure theres a few.  how about 40?

My La Grange team was 50 ath and 49 def averaged and my starting lineup had 1 guy over 50 ath and 1 other guy over 50 def.

36 ath 52 def
46 ath 43 def
49 ath 36 def
51 ath 48 def
48 ath 47 def

But I focus a ton on spd(60 team average last season) and great bh/pas with 2 elite scorers.  Similar to anavrin if 2x know him when he decides to pop in and out of there,

sol_phenom won a couple titles with a TEAM DEF in the 30's....he had like 4 guys with 90+ spd/per

that is actually more interesting to me.  but seems like i never hear about that.

maybe because sol doesnt havent a team in nearly every world.
maybe because 90sp 90pe dudes are not easy to find at d3,  regardless of thier D

I played Sol pretty often in Knight....I remember kicking the snot out of him and then BAM, he had all these 90/90 guys that just torched me!.....At one point I think he had 3 guys over 90/90 and another over 80/80.....I had a bunch of good defenders (70/70/70 DEF/SPD/ATH) that were just getting used and abused by his guys...it was awhile ago, I may be embellishing a little bit but I don't think it is alot of bit....

From my D-1 Hartford Final 4 team in Phelan in Season 73 our team was 54.6 in Ath and 60.5 in Def.  However, we had an advantage in speed, per and bh over most other teams.

Wow, that is quite the roster... I'm not too familiar with D1 rosters, but that's pretty cool to see the 90+ SPD, PER and Stamina

I had to stop reading the forum, because I was getting annoyed by the comments, then I realized it's like 2+ years old. lol.

if you want a good read here is the thread of when that hartford team made it Final Four

and here is a pic of the roster
i totally forgot about that team. i had a similar team recently at a mid major, who only made the 2nd round and then 1st round in their upperclassmen years - but i thought they were the kind of team who was real flukey and could make a run. very similar to that team, not hard to see why an extreme 3 point shooting press team can manage to get lucky and go on a run. its a good prototype for the teams mid majors could be building (there are a few), because it doesn't rely on the ath/def guys the big boys are so desperate for. take some scrubs who can shoot 3s and rebound, play press to offset the **** ath/def, and roll some dice :) not like you can expect to actually be favored against a team with 90 in everything when you are a ****** mid major.

shaf has made a habit of great D3 success with team defense under 50. I was in the same conference as La Grange for a while in Smith, where he won two NTs and had three more final fours during the time we overlapped.

anavrin when he pops into the 2x D3 worlds is known for the high spd/bh/pas in the fb/press with weak defense.

I'm not sure I can fully make the claim but I really did just have the most anti myers team possible in IBA. I made the NC game in Iba with 45 team ath and 36 team defense. My speed was 69 and my bh was 56 and 52.

Really nice job. Looking at your stats, I'm not surprised by your team's passing and lack of turnovers, or your opponents' TO's. What I was surprised by is that you held opponents to 42% FG / 31% 3PT on the season, while playing a top-notch schedule. I wouldn't have expected that with your mediocre DEF ratings. But I guess playing 6 seniors with great press IQs outweighs that.

In the press spd is most important imo, and it shows since it covered up a severe deficiency in "normal" defensive ratings. I only had 4 opponents shoot over 50%. I did give up over 40 fta 3 times(going 1-3), but I had over 40 FTA myself 11 times

The most anti Myers team would not play the press with 6 seniors and great IQs. You're team averaged over 23 turnovers/game! You still did an amazing job, don't get me wrong, but I think this team falls under the category the press is too strong at DIII. IMHO.

Great job and congrats on another amazing season!
