Bad interior defense in a zone Topic

Would you rather run a 3-2 or a 2-3

I have been trying to go 3-2 - heavy, but it doesn't seem to be working. I don't know if 2-3 would help as I know it benefits the interior, but it leaves my Center by himself(81 ath 52 spd 95 reb 68 def 70 sb) and I run a 3 guard lineup which would bring my 3rd guard down.

I have solid perimeter defense(excellent defense at the 2/3 weak def at PG)

Trying to cover up my pretty weak def/sb of my 4/5

Doesn't help you at all, when people can see your gameplan I would keep that obselete. I have a huge game my first conference game and I didn't even tell my mentor what lineup and position I gameplan for.

I'm not worried about anyone seeing my gameplan, lol. anyways I only play 3 more human games maybe 5 most with the CT.

You should be talking to your mentor about that especially since its still your 2nd season there I don't think hiding it is going to help you at all.

If you are weak down low you need to probably play a big at sf play 2-3 slow down and pack it in.

A 3-2 would take your small forward to the perimeter

Unfortunately I don't have any sf capable of playing down low which is why I've been running a 3-2 minus heavy

what team?

Start Hanna at sf hell you wouldn't even have to slow down with him...and back him up with the other pf....

I would never play a 3-2 with those guys, an average def set up would be a 2-3 with regular tempo,

against sims it would be a 2-3 +2 or +3,

you have all sim games coming, try it out when humans come pack it in a bit......you shouldnt worry about stamina

You really need more block for zone, those 70's aint gonna cut it. Also, don't be afraid to go -5 in a 3-2, if a team shoots less than 15% of their shots from behind the arc, go -5 unless you have a real good reason not to.

I would play around with the 2-3 with teams that have heavy guard scoring but not from 3fga. Barber and Hobbs are good enough to play the top.

Yeah block is low. I think you have two players for that zone and that's it. So 2-3... But you have a weak 2-3 with the block being so low.

I have pondered putting Hanna at SF, I've held out due to his bh/pas. I could move Jerome to PG Cobb to SG and bring Hasdell off the bench which seems to help his shooting.

Unfortunately aimiing for high sb hasn't turned out well, so this was the best I could do without dipping way to low ath/spd/def

Not sure "obsolete" is the word you're looking for here. How about something easy like "hidden" because "obsolete" doesn't mean what I believe you think it means. Anyway....

TJ, Zorzii, look at what conference he's in, look at his prestige. First off, I wouldn't guess that he was working with a **** ton of NT bonus money when he recruited. Because of that, and because of his prestige, he's gonna have players with warts in his ratings. Sometimes you have to take the best available and that guy might not fit the system you run perfectly. Shot blocking is important in the zone, sure we all agree with that. But what if (pun intended) those were the best shot blockers that he was able to get in those recruiting sessions? Just saying that sometimes that perfect player for your system isn't available and you're not in the position to take another walk-on, so you get who you can get..........and yes, I've settled on a meh player instead of taking a walk-on more times than I can count. Each scenario is different.

I am sure The Only is doing a great job recruiting. But he is thinking press mostly and you have to think a bit differently with a zone. He could make sure to get a 90+ SB guy at the 5 spot and a back-up in the same range and his zone would definetly change for the better. I saw some people play it in D1, not a lot have success.

First thing I would do is check the game logs for overall team FG%, 3PT%, Rebounds, opponents LP FG% and Per FG%. What's produced results and what hasn't so far? I would say, whether you want to go 2-3 or 3-2 should depend on the team you're playing and not so much about hiding a bad defender etc. Whatever you decide, you're still going to have a weak spot in your defense. At least if you switch off between 2-3 and 3-2 it will keep your opponents guessing.
