Tenn-Martin fired their coach in Knight this morning. Justified?

Taking a team down from 287 to 309 in RPI over six years, yes, justified.
He went 10 years without a postseason at St. Joe's and didn't get fired. Higher baseline prestige there, never dropped below D+, RPI was in the low 100's instead of up in the 200-300s. Final RPI matters for prestige.
I'm not disagreeing with anything you wrote, just making that clear up front. All I'd like to add is that if this resume is enough to get someone fired then there should be a whole helluva lot of coaches sweating the end of their respective seasons.
Perhaps, as was mentioned, he ghost shipped the team and someone in his conference complained in a ticket to CS and that was the catalyst needed to get him removed from this team. If that "was" the case, and that's a big IF, then that is all kinds of wrong. Firings should NOT be based on another coach acting like a hallway monitor. it's nice to see that firings have not totally been removed, but they REALLY need to be ramped up. A lot.
I understand Seble's hesitation in firings because he feels it could upset long time users. But what about those long time users who are stuck just below the elite team level who can't break through the logjam of coaches at the elite teams, some of which definitely do NOT deserve to be in their current positions.
I'm probably in a very, very small minority but I'm the type of person/coach who would understand being fired from a job if I wasn't performing up to standard. Believe me, I wouldn't necessarily "like" it, but I would understand it and be man enough to accept the fact that it was time to move on. I would like to think that coaches who play long enough and are competitive enough to reach the elite levels are also rational enough people to realize that they aren't getting the job done and would ultimately be okay with being fired (after they cooled off for a bit). Maybe I'm totally off base here but I would just hope that those coaches would have enough personal integrity to do the right thing.
As far as "meeting team standards", that's easy. It might take Seble a little time to go back through and code each team but the answer is to announce up front, in the e-mail you get welcoming you to your new school, what the minimum requirements to keep the job will be. Simple and transparent. That way a coach knows exactly what he has to do in order to keep the job and if those minimum standards aren't met, then it's time to go and let the next person try. Easy as can be. What those standards are could be up for discussion and would have to be reasonable but put it out in the open so everyone knows. That way if a coach "isn't" meeting those standards, other coaches interested in that job will know that it's about to open up to new applicants. Easy as can be.
Sorry for the rambling but hirings/firings has been a pet peeve of mine for a long, long time.
