Dumb and Dumber just became Dumb and Dumber Two. More musings from CoachDUD the Unintelligent Noob Troll

"I have been reading this thread, and shaking my head more often than nodding. I laugh that so many guys want more recruits signing quicker AND more signing later. Does the left hand know what the right hand is asking? And ENOUGH already of begging for more and more and more handouts for the D1 coaches, who already enjoy massively overwhelming advantages in economy and prestige. This entire thread makes it sound like the whole of D1 is just a step or two from the poorhouse.

Also, since only one or two posts responded to Seble's posts, here goes:
“3+ times as much effort plus a better preference match. Also, the prestige effect is not going to be as big of an advantage when comparing an average DII school to a decent DIII school. There is an advantage, but it's not going to outweigh a significant amount of effort and better pref matches.” [That sounds like it is working as it should. Now to rein in the huge D1 advantages.]
“It looks like the majority favor an extra division modifier on all recruiting actions. [NO, NO, NO, for reasons explained below!] That probably still wouldn't be enough to get the D2 school in the drivers seat in this scenario. At some point, effort should trump prestige or division, if it's lopsided enough.” [Agreed. And by the same thinking, at some point effort should also give at least a little nudge to a recruit’s signing-timing preference as well.]
“I wouldn't say effort generally trumps [circumstances], but when it's very lopsided I think it should, especially in the lower divisions.” [What?! Rewarding recruiting effort rather than gifting the higher level coaches? Totally sensible, of course.]

Regarding an extra division modifier … aren’t D1 coaches supposed to be considered the experts at this game, the wisest, the most accomplished, rulers of all they survey? If so, then the structure of the game should be bringing the divisions closer together, not farther apart, so the mighty D1 coaches can demonstrate their suitability for their lofty positions by virtue of their superiority, not by virtue of more D1-welfare. Let D1 coaches show their virtues by winning fair competitions, not be being protected, sheltered and removed from competition against the lowly D2 or D3 school, from whom they really have nothing to fear.
Already a D2 or especially a D3 budget is minuscule compared to D1 budgets. For example, D1 coaches speak of 40 or 50 or more HV’s to a single recruit. D3 budgets allow for that many HV’s TOTAL over three to four seasons. D1 already plays on a different planet, and frankly they should be embarrassed to be asking in post after post for more structural advantages (read “gifts.”)
Flame away, boys."

It sounds to me like CoachSpud doesn't understand college sports, so he's just looking at it the wrong way. He talks like D1-D2-D3 are arbitrary difficulty settings in a game and that all coaches would aspire to play at D1 eventually. He also just doesn't seem to get that there real differences between the divisions that should be reflected in the game design (e.g. D3 schools don't even have athletic scholarships so they wouldn't be competitive vs D1 for the same recruits).

I'm going with #2. But if you ask him, he'd tell you that everyone else is an idiot. Hmmm. The irony.

Spud is like the idiot that complains that the world is against smokers because there is a no smoking sign at the gas station.

I almost wish they would open up all recruits just to watch him get his noob azz kicked by the better coaches.

I love how spud thinks he is fighting for parity but since he has no idea what he is talking about be doesnt realize that his ideas make D2 and D3 totally unplayable with how little parity their would be, it would literally be the Warriors and cavs at D3 playing each other over and over because only rhe good coaches would be getting those unrealistic D1 players that bend over and **** stupid coaches like spud at D3.

Right now coaches can get players up a division that are somewhat realistic but also aren't completely overpowered.

No one else agrees with his stupid *** and he keeps pulling **** out of his *** with 5 seasons of experience and a continous lack of understanding of the game.

He keeps thinkING everyone is trying to make D1 even more powerful than they are now, which the update will curb some, but hw literally wants d3 to be as equal to D1 and doesn't understand the people who don want that include d3 coaches who know how unfair it would be... But he's a ******* retard, I'm ashamed seble even responded to his idiotic ******* statements.

They should just straight up ban him from the beta forums his stupid ******* posts do way more damage than calling a bunch of people **** wads because he keeps spreading around misinformation and ******* trying to make the game ******* worse off than it already is and wI'll become.

Yeah, he's annoying but no one is listening to him or taking him seriously. He's basically coachward but without the entertainment factor.

...and WHEN you thought it couldn't get any better.........

"And there they will sit until the start of the second period or even until the start of the last day, stuck at Seble's arbitrary and capricious red light, watching the schools in D1, with their recruiting money advantage, take whomever they wish. The D2/D3 school cannot even respond, just can just watch with their hands tied while the legitimate recruiting effort they put into a recruit goes out the window. No D3 budget can withstand that even once. It will only take getting stuck at that red light once or twice before a D2/D3 coach realizes what it means to him that the game is now openly rigged. Not just massive prestige advantage, massive scouting and recruiting money advantages, not just that 10 D1 AP's counts for more than 10 D3 AP's -- those were behind the curtain. Now it is out in the open. Welcome to the back of the bus, new D3 coaches. As the D1 coaches are so fond of saying, "Sit down and shut up.""

Wow....imaging that....DIII teams are not being allowed the same chance to get DI players as DI teams. Such bigotry!
