I worry about someone with a 424 / 19 Forum post to win ratio. That's bad. I will try to lend a hand just this once; now that you have Miles:
  1. Don't cut rising seniors. Do cut terrible ATH/DEF without redeeming qualities: Anderson; Mims; & Morris.
  2. Take stock of what's left: Spratt, Dietz, Frantz & Cave are good. Though Spratt has terrible WE...even so, I think I'd still cut Morris and start Spratt. So, you need a starting guard and developmental C. Spinella, Liebowitz, & Kacerski need to come off the bench.
  3. If you follow 1 & 2 above, then you'll continue to play triangle & man. You might be able to get to the NT that way. Maybe PIT is the ceiling.
To sign a worthwhile starting guard at D2 is always tricky, but you have to. I would look at JuCo Sophs & transfers, but I might go with low OVR freshman that is blue in the right places and just deal with it. You can go low (& cheap) to find a C (just look at ATH, REB, DEF, SB...make sure those will hit 65 each). Save $110 at the end and sign another eligible guard as well.

Key trick: If you cut Morris, do NOT sign any Juniors! Whether you keep Morris or not, take 1 walkon this season to create 6 open scholarships exactly for next season. No more, no less. [Edit: Actually, just make sure you have at least 6 openings for next season...7 is ok. Maybe hope that the season rolls before the Beta rolls out.]

I was going to sign a division 1 player with my 2 avalible scolarships. I may end up going after a juco now.

remember projected level doesn't guarentee a player will be better you can find many D2 players that are better than projected D1 players you shouldn't make a goal to sign someone just based on their projected level

The listed "division" doesn't matter. All that matters is determining what the core categories will be while you are starting the recruit! For a guard, that's exactly what you'd think intuitively: BH, Passing, Spd, Ath, Def & Per. The trouble is that guards that are good in all those categories attract attention.

Were I in your shoes, I would be scouring the recruiting lists (before spending a dime on scouting) for guards that I could target that could help right away. Note: Senior transfer guards, that are at all decent, will not be available to you. Just ignore them. However, you could look at sophomore transfers or JuCos or you might find a local that's lit up blue like a smurf in the core categories with decent WE and just start that dude!

Some of these posts are far too detailed for the intended audience. Just reality. Imagine halfway through where you need to be to get that cap and gown. Now cut THAT in half. There's the level of your intended audience. Approach from that point of view and the lessons will make a lot better sense. That's not being condescending, that's simply the truth. Don't concur? Watch homemade videos............see?
