To those that do spreadsheets. What exactly do you compile?

I currently have my preseason player ratings and information (I forgot to include IQ) but I'm also going to gather player ratings at the end of the season, along with stats, and results as well....just curious what others do...do you guys do pre and postseason inputs as well or?

I dump their stats into a pre-formated spreadsheet with EFG% and Winscore formulas. I used to track / record recruits potentials. But stopped doing that recently.

Its nice to keep a baseline where you have their initial Freshman year before any games. That way you can see their overall increase so when going into the Junior Year you know if a guy was Average and he has improved 19 already you can truly get a fell of whether you need to get someone else to fill his shoes at this point.

I think bermanap has the best spreadsheet, if you ask him he used to send it to you, not sure if he still does though.

It was a spreadsheet that would let you compare players on both teams I believe I never used it but say it. It was way over my head but it had formulas to show off effieciency I think

keep in mind, it depends on what you want to accomplish

if all you are doing is tracking development and potential it is easy - really just record keeping - I do it without even a spreadsheet, just copy the ratings, color code them for potential and adjust the colors as I get messages when kids max out

if you want to evaluate players its a bunch harder - some spreadsheets purport to do that

i used to keep this info, i think you could get off easier using print screens. during recruiting if you put everybody on your compare list it will give you everything, potential, gpa, etc.

then if you print screen on your team start and end of the season, i think you can track just about anything from that

If anyone has a helpful spreadsheet, would you mind sharing it with me? I'm a new coach and would really appreciate the help.

Thanks.

Hi all,

New coach here and was curious is a helpful spreadsheet exists for game planning and following player progress? If so, can I get a copy?

I have 3 spreadsheets you can use if you like.  One is for Recruiting and two are team worksheets. The recruiting worksheet and one of the team worksheets are for OpenOffice.org's spreadsheet called Calc.  These files are named stillman.ods and RecruitHD_Allen_S42.ods.  There are also Docs to explain usage of these 2 sheets named RecruitingSheet and TeamWorksheetDirections. The other worksheet (one version for Excel 2007 and another version for Excel 2003 and earlier) is based on an orginal spreadsheet by Andy Berman (bermanap).  Andy has given permission for me to redistribute this modified worksheet, so thanks go to him.  Files are named HD-TeamMatchup-2007xlsm.zip and HD-TeamMatchup-2003xls.zip and the documentation is named TeamMatchup.doc.All files are available here
