How in the world is this team good?

http://wisjournal.com/hd/TeamProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=13425. (since pasting in the ratings didn't seem to work.

I expected a borderline NT season yet we are #10 and have an RPI of 6(!) and I have no explanation as to how this team is so good. Is this a new engine thing or am I just missing something big?

2 separate teams?

Tmac got the right one. My team in Knight. It's a bad team yet we have elite ranking and RPI. I am confused.

SPD + DE + M2M = wins with the new engine?

That team isn't that bad, really. You have a good rebounder, and another decent one. Your ath/speed is not elite, but its good with the def. You also don't press, which is also a bonus. However, the RPI in inflated due to playing average teams who have around a .500 record - it will drop as the season goes on. You only played 3 pretty good teams and went 2-1 (both wins at home before the HCA was changed.)

This team isn't going to be an elite 8 type team, but it shouldn't be a surprised that they are decent in a weak world.

A) not sure how much affect my D+ hca had.

B) the weird thing is my RPI was in the teens going into conference play. My conference is not strong, but my rpi continues to get better.

tkimble, i think M2M seems to be very tough in the new engine and you have built one hell of a grind it out M2M team. Alot of the other categories are lacking and make the team look a little weak, but you've set them up well so that they can be efficient on offense and use that tough D to keep games close. I don't think that HCA had much to do with it at this level. It may have gained you a point but thats about it. Your RPI is getting better still because of the teams you played in the non-conf games are still getting better. You beat us when we were around 10 in RPI, now i think were number 2.

I think the most surprising part is only 4 upperclassmen and that performance. that never happened under the old engine and does not make sense at this level.

If you look at the stats, the 2 seniors do all of the scoring.  They're actually shooting surprisingly low 3 pt %s.  It may be an indication that the new anti-bingball logic is working, since it looks like they are getting huge chunks of distro.

Good defense, rebounding, ball handling. A few good outside shooters, but besides that you shouldn't be able to score inside.

I went to the final four multiple times with 1 SR and 2 JRS so it does happen. His team is just playing good defence. Under the old engine defence did not win games, but now it does it seems.

You sure about this?  I went to the Final Four in Naismith last season with Texas A & M and only had three upperclassmen.  I've also taken teams with six freshmen to the Final Four.  Twice.  It happened in the old engine, just not every season........
