New Forums.....must adjust Topic

It was the "WIS singled me out and blocked my ability to post links" bullshit that did it.

"Here's a wild thought, if you don't like what a person posts, don't read it"

That's what blocking does, genius. The default setting on all your posts is now that I don't even see them unless I choose to.

"I was legitimately questioning..."

Yes, and birthers are just legitimately questioning whether Obama is an American citizen or not.  John Nash legitimately questioned whether all men wearing red ties were out to get him. Joe McCarthy legitimately questioned whether everyone in Hollywood was a Commie. The fact that you would even conceive of such a 'legitimate question' indicates that you are incapable of being rational when it comes to WIS.

Whoops. Didn't realize downrating a couple of posts would hide the entire thread.

...but then marking it as a Favorite keeps it unhidden. Weird.

But why is blocking necessary when you can just choose not to read it? You guys have said it yourselves, the best way to get someone that you don't like or what have you to shut up/change their tune is to ignore them by not posting responses to what they say...I can't help the fact that many of you don't have the self control to do just that. Blocking someone shows that you have self control issues and a borderline socialist mentality...just saying.

It was a legitimate question and it seems that I can't post links because I have a really old browser....I never outed WIS in this situation and said it was their fault...hell I didn't even follow up on that post...you, however, did. So what does that say about you when it comes to being rational about me/my posts?

No, COlonels.  Blocking you is a perfectly rational capitalist decision about how he wants to spend his resources:  Not reading you.  How the heck is this related to any economic situation.  If you receive mail from someone you don't like, and chose not to open it, are you 'being a socialist'?

He called one individual (me!) choosing a more efficient way to avoid his drivel 'socialist'? Really?

TO be precise. . .

Would be what he said. .  .

Dude, socialism and Communism aren't only in reference to economics, but ways of life as well. You do realize that Communist nations censor what people can and cannot read, correct? They determine what content is suitable for their people or not. Its kind of the same propagandized principle here...you're not only controlling what you do or do not read, you're controlling WHAT YOU SEE AND WHAT YOU DON'T SEE...which is even more bizarre. I mean, when if you read a newspaper, and there's a column(ist) that you don't like, do you tear it out of your newspaper, or do you just choose not to read it? Right....same concept here...if you don't like certain people's comments/opinions, then IGNORE THEM...blocking is completely unnecessary if you have the least bit of self control. Blocking people is incredibly weak, and again, its basically an admittance that you can't hang with said person, and dalter can say whatever the hell he wants really, but its true. The person you like least on this board could always have that 1 post that wows you, but you'll never see it because you've exercised your board right to be a Communist...clever. Hell aintheb, you've even agreed with me in certain instances.

And btw, choosing not to open snail mail and sending them a letter back telling them to block mail to your box from x sender are 2 completely different instances/concepts...just saying.

Peace.

A communist GOVERNMENT blocks what YOU see, COlonels.  A free individual decides what he or she wants to see.   Your analogy is such a massive failure as to be laughable.  Does that mean that I shouldn't put telemarketers on the no call list because I might like something they are selling at some point?  Myself, I don't block people just because I don't want to remove context from a number of other posts, but playing the "YOu blocked me therefore you can't handle me' game is just. .weird.  He has decided, on average, that the signal to noise ratio he gets from reading your posts isn't worth the effort of doing so.

Reading a post and getting a telemarketing call are 2 completely different instances, but feel free to compare apples to oranges as you see fit. Blocking users/posts on here is like tearing articles out of a newspaper...would you do that or not? Antonsirius? If my posts were laced with profanity or sexual content, then I could understand anyone blocking me...you don't agree with what I say, thus you're blocking me...that's borderline disturbing behavior...way to be open to differing opinions guy...we need more like you....

The personal offense that people take to things that are POSTED ON A MESSAGE BOARD is seemingly unreal. Its not like I or anyone is getting up in someone's face, yelling at them telling them that my opinion is better than yours, and that's what some people are making it seem like. Blocking someone is like an online restraining order...COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY...its not instant contact and you can simply choose not to read it...unreal.
