It's for effect...its not yelling as much as it is highlighting the main points...don't see any exclys though....
You are right.  You have probably never used an exclamation point in one of your posts.

Good lord colonels....you think someone blocking you on a forum so they and only they don't have to read your posts is "socialist."

Wow, that's a pretty stupid thought. Perhaps you should sit out a few days, maybe brush up on your words

Colonels, you're entire communist argument is based on the assumption that there has ever been such a thing as a "communist government."  Two problems with this: 1) no country has ever adopted a truly communist economy and 2) communism isn't a government form.  Hypothetically a true communist nation would have either democratic government or, ideally, no organized government.

Oh, for pity's sake. He's (pathetically and laughably) making an analogy to Soviet or Maoist-style oppression. He's not talking about some Platonic ideal communist economy. The word 'communist' hasn't referred to anything but Soviet-style fascism since the 1920s or so. What are you, a Wobbly?

You getting blocked has nothing to do with if someone can handle you or not. When the block came out, it was obvious you'd get blocked, I'd get blocked, swamp would get blocked, tmac etc. It has everything to do with people just don't like u and don't want to hear us. If they don't, don't cry over it. Its stuff like this that people want to avoid. Every thread gets highjacked with 4 pages of this crap. That is why you get blocked. Call it what you want to call it, but thats all there is to it. Carry on with your **** match.

I dunno... does it really count as hijacking here, when the thread is about the new forum and its features anyway?

Plus, I highly doubt you and tmac will make as many blocked lists as colonels.

Heh, awesome... I have the potty-mouth sensor switched off, yet when I quote a post it ****'s out the expletives anyway.

No, COlonels.  Blocking you is a perfectly rational capitalist decision about how he wants to spend his resources:  Not reading you.  How the heck is this related to any economic situation.  If you receive mail from someone you don't like, and chose not to open it, are you 'being a socialist'?

This, I love. Colonels reads all his spam and junk mail, of course. It's only fair.

Of course. Only us commies use spam filters.

Apples to oranges as usual
LOL

colonels, when will you give it a rest. to say blocking somebody in any way relates to being socialist is totally absurd. you are saying it is fine to ignore your posts but not to block them, you are splitting hairs and really the difference between the two is mostly semantics.
6/22/2010 12:46 AM
The point is, if the block feature was one of the excuses to bring in a new, arguably worse forum format, then it was unnecessary because you can simply choose not to read/respond to certain posts as is...its called self control. Blocking is weak and says a lot about someone's character...this isn't like/about reading spam emails, this is about reading pertinent posts that apply to a thread that you do or may want to participate in. I'm aware that a lot of people probably don't care, but blocking ANYONE is a big -10 in my book, especially when its because of one's failure to exhibit self control...
6/22/2010 9:48 AM
You think blocking an incredibly annoying person who posts constantly and pollutes the forums speaks to the blocker's character? Wow, you may have just hit a new level of absurdity.

Do you know how many posters are likely to get blocked by anyone here? Maybe 2-3. You're taking this personally because you're the guy that people are going to block ... not because they lack character, not because they're Communist and not because they "can't handle you", but because you annoy the **** out of them and constantly pollute the forums and make a lot of peoples' experience here worse.

You're not arguing against the blocking feature, you're arguing against the fact that you know plenty of people will want to block you.

By blocking a chronically ****** poster like colonels, I can now judge whether he's said something worth reading based on the reactions of other people on the board to his posts. If it seems like he's actually making a useful contribution to a discussion, I can then easily go back and read those useful posts without being subjected to the rest of his crap posts that just muddy up a thread.

colonels, on the hand, seems to be advocating a policy of magically figuring out which posts from chronically ****** posters are worthwhile, and which aren't, before you even read them. Failure to exhibit this superpower indicates communist tendencies and a disgraceful lack of self-control.

Given that he's on the 'chronically ****** poster' list of a great many people, I can see why he'd take the latter position. But that still doesn't mean it makes a lick of sense.
