Seriously? 72 fouls/95FT Topic

The only problem I have with the final minute is Dowling fouling 3 times in the backcourt.  That's not going to happen in real life.  The rest of the pbp seems fine to me.  And the difference in IQs played a huge factor.  I wouldn't have chosen uptempo against a team who you know is going to be playing a fast tempo with the horrible IQs against a team with 5 seniors and good IQs.

Here is some things I found:

Nine points in a minute by guard, including a rare four-point play, cut the deficit in half and Bentley eventually took a 12-point bulge into the halftime break, 43-31.

Gonzaga cut a 21-point lead to 11, Carolina responded with nine points in a minute.

In both of these cases, there was no team fouling the other team.

Here is the High School record:

Scheyer rose to national fame in his senior year by scoring 21 points in 75 seconds of play during a one-man comeback effort in the last minute and a half of a high school game.

When talking about how often something happens in the sim, remember the denominator as well as the numerator. . .

Right, I do get that. There are more games in HD, and that is valid.

But those  who've been playing this game for awhile and really know it (and hughes is new, he certainly isn't in that group) can tell about 90% of the time if something passes the smell test.

Let's hope you can do better than nine points in a minute.

Don't really care what Scheyer did in high school vs. a bunch of other suburban kids in 75 seconds.

For the record, I'm Googling too, curious to see if I find anything remotely compelling. Will respond with full disclosure if I do.

I just also get annoyed by the set who seem to think that anything unusual is unjustifiable.

Seriously man, if you're going to say 30 points in one minute makes sense ... personally, I just don't have respect for any of your posts after I read that.
I am sick of all the whining that "This can't happen" or "this never happens" bull crap.

It can and does happen.

So, I show you that it does happen, and I am an a$$hole.

But the guys saying it can't or never happens are not exaggerating?

I never said any of these things were NORMAL ... never once did I say that.

What I freaking said is that you can not take one freaking one off game, then *****, moan, whine, cry, gnash your teeth, threaten to quit the game because it is unrealistic and never happens.

If you want to lie about what I said, fine, do it.

I have posted more times than I can count about people's "crazy" results not being crazy. I'm sure you'll recall that I have done so often enough in recent months that colonels repeatedly branded me as an apologist.

But I have no agenda. I know that some results that are branded as crazy are not, and some legitimately are.

hughes, on the other hand, only goes one way and simply doesn't have any credibility. When you know what a guy is going to post every time before you even read, that's just a waste. He's pretty close to becoming the second guy I've blocked, after colonels.

Actually, you've never shown that 30 points in one minute has happened.  Not even close.

Both teams ran normal.

Only in the final minute when I was losing by a bunch did I go uptempo, which, coincidentally, worked pretty well.
6/24/2010 9:48 PM
Hughes, the most you said "against" the 30 points scored in one minute was that it was "not probable".

Well, no ****. That's like announcing that me spending tomorrow night taking turns banging Megan Fox, Halle Berry and Babar the Elephant is "not probable".

30 pts scored in one minute is totally and completely ridiculous, and you can't come close to showing even one college (or even pro) game where that occurred.

Credibility ... zero.
6/24/2010 9:49 PM
And I'm glad none of the apologists have addressed the fact that both teams went normal.  If both teams had gone uptempo, the results would have been beyond ludicrous.

What does things that have happened or not happened in the outdated and screwed up engine have to do with real basketball or this engine.  I have as much experience with this engine as you do.

I also have experience with other WIS games, with other sports simulations, etc.

I also have a background in Nuclear Physics, Radiation Health, Chemistry, Network Engineering, and in the not too distant past computer modeling of potential point sources of contamination dispersed into the air and water.  I know a thing or two about statistics and probability.
6/24/2010 9:54 PM
But at the END of the Game, where things got 'crazy' or 'not normal', you (isack24) say "Only in the final minute when I was losing by a bunch did I go uptempo, which, coincidentally, worked pretty well."

30 Points in 1 Minute was the Outlier.  This Outlier occured in the Final Minute.  You say, and I Quote "Only in the Final Minute when I was losing by a bunch did I go UPTEMPT" (the BOLD is mine).

So, pretty much, when things got 'stupid' is when you WERE Uptempo... and you allow that Uptempo would indeed induce more Fouls/Turnovers, which result in Quick Baskets.  Add to that the Fouls to pull off the Comeback Attempt with some Lights Out Shooting, and you do get some really amazing scoring.

I'm not saying it's probably, I'm just suggesting that you gave the Engine exactly what it needed to attempt such a thing... and that your lucky Shooting had as much impact as the Fouls.

You can't really rant about the Tempo, when the part that you are most upset about was a direct affect of you adjusting to Uptempo (properly, I might add.  That was the correct Coaching Decision, no I'm not calling you out on it).

You could do the exact same things 100 more times and not get as lucky with your Shooting (or the other team so efficient from the Charity Stripe) and get a completely different outcome.  You could also play a team with a Better IQ in the same situation and get much more 'realistic' results.

It is clear to me that this engine (while better in certain areas such as carrying out distro) is prone to a disturbing amount of extreme results.

-Closely matched teams with 50+ scoring margins.
-Insane amounts of fouls/ft's.
-Crazy runs like the 30 pts in one minute.
-Etc.

Seble does need to find a way to dial these back.
6/24/2010 10:04 PM
That I can agree with.  And he needs to dial back on my teams 'suckage' or 'suckatude'.  So what if I took a team with a Sub 400 Rating and took 3 Walk Ons because there were 9 Open Scholarships?  By gosh, I'm ME!  And I always win at least 8 Games in a Season... of course that's in a 13 Game College Football Season (and I've got 8 already in Hardball Dynasty now, too... something like 8-12 or so!)  but I can't for the life of me Win 8 in a freaking long Basketball Season!  ARGH!  This will be the 2nd Team that I destroyed (well, they were destroyed before I became Coach, but I sure ain't fixed them!)  At least I'm sticking with this one (love the PG I brought in) to see if I can get that Elusive 8 Wins!
