OT: My Fantasy Football League Topic

I'd love to have some of my staunchest adversaries as well as allies fill this thing out. Looking at 10-12 total...best FFB concept ever...here are the rest of the details...

Sorry, for whatever reason I can't post links...I think I could on the test board, but not certain...I apologize nonetheless

Commissioner's Note
6/16 Gentlemen and Lady/ies?,

Welcome to the best fantasy football league ever...BPI Sports 2010.

Currently I have the league set for 10 teams (might cap it at 12) based on points, but what will happen is that every team will play every team, each week. The team with the most points for any given week will have won all 9 games, and I will give them a bonus win for attaining the most points that week, so it'd be 10...here is a list of points...

1st - 10
2nd - 8
3rd - 7
4th - 6
5th - 5
6th - 4
7th - 3
8th - 2
9th - 1
10th - 0

There will be 2 championships. The BPI Sports United States Title will be decided through a 4 team playoff run weeks 15 and 16, while the BPI Sports European Title will be determined by who has the most "wins"/points at the end of all 17 weeks with no playoffs. I will be compiling the "wins"/points by hand, and the weekly results will be seen in the "message board" area of the league board.

Just another side note...the draft selection process that I proposed last year will stay on the shelf as Yahoo randomly selects draft positions for its leagues. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this has caused or will cause, but random is the easiest/only way to do things here, and it isn't a bad way.

I look forward to a great season with you all. Take care

2. Please elaborate on your "weird-as-hell scoring system" comment, because I'd love to respond.

Thanks for joining, you won't regret it.

i think both the ranking and scoring system contribute to weirdness, actually.

-the whole points league with the euro and usa titles is like nothing i've seen before.
-points for completions, carries, and negative points for incompletions is something i've only seen hypothesized
-5 points for each td seems a bit odd
-i like the no defense, but that's another odd characteristic nonetheless

i'm not saying there's anything wrong with the league. i'm more of a purist when it comes to fantasy sports scoring systems, but do whatever scoring system you want so long as it's interesting. yours just seems weird as hell. the only thing i would suggest is to incorporate a system to determine a "global" champ, rather than just leaving an american and euro champ.

Ohhh, I've been waiting for this lol.

First of all, the 10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-0 point structure isn't so much a ranking system as it is correctly accounting for EVERY team playing EVERY team, EVERY week, which I haven't seen before in FFB. Tell me a better, more fair FFB league than playing every team every week? Under this format, you can't luck into a title by having the right opponents fall to you each week throughout the season. This format will determine who the best team/coach are, period.

A. I prefer my self proclaimed BPI Sports Europe style, but I know this isn't that popular in America and that people like playoffs, so I'm incorporating a BPI Sports United States title as well to account for this. You see it as just 2 champions...I see it as the best of both worlds.

B. Some people just award points for completions, and I think that's silly, its disregarding the whole other aspect of the passing game, which are incompletions. I've dumbed it down from .5 to .25 this year because it was upskewing the numbers too much IMO. So if a guy goes 30 for 50...he gets an extra 2.5 points to his total...its a way to account for completion percentage in FFB. The negligible .05 points per carry is to help prevent ties (though we had 1 or 2 last year...odd in a fractional point league lol) and to reward a back for getting the ball...20 carries = 1 point...I might dumb it down still, I can see how/why people wouldn't like this. I have a carry as one tenth of a catch (.5).

C. The way I look at things are based in the context of yardage, so a TD to me isn't worth 5 points, its worth 50 yards...as opposed to 6 points or 60 yards. When you look at it from this perspective, 6 points for a TD is a bit odd, even arbitrary, even though its the value given by the NFL and almost all fantasy leagues.

D. Honestly, I'd love to have DEFs and/or Ks however the way that fantasy football leagues are setup on Yahoo (my favorite) as well as on others, I can't adjust the points to my liking, thus I punt both positions. I assure you I have the best kicking format around.

Thanks again for joining.
